In the Words: In God We Trust Iwanna know if these letters are supposed to be touching like overlapping each other and also the (R) is filled. Can anyone tell me anything about this?

What has happened is the die wear and heavy circulation has taken a tall on the devices and flattened them, therefor they have gotten slightly wider and bigger.It's safe to let it go back in circulation.

The condition is not close to "overlapping"...which would be quite difficult unless Machine Doubling or a DD.

Also these coins get used in vending machines a lot, casinos a lot. (back then)
