Hello everyone, first time on this side of a post.

So, a co-worker has filled (over a 20 year span) a glass 5 gallon water bottle with pennies from change received (not searched), what I'm wondering is how to determine an offer price, or how much would you guys/gals offer?

Yes,I goggle searched and if we are 50/50 with pre and post 82s, face value is around $450.00, so do you think 600 is too generous?..........Thanks everyone...Best of luck on your future coin finds....

I would try to get them for as close to face as possible. I'ts going to take you a whole weekend to search through them, and there's no guarantee that you will find anything worthwhile.

What else is he going to do with them?

I'd offer face value, I would pick them up.

Or offer 10% over face, he delivers.

Agree with the others. The offer should be close to face.

I'm saying face also. I doubt there is much in terms of a find in the bottle. Most likely just common change.

If you really want to be fair offer him face and if there are any funds you split the value 50/50

I have heard of these glass water bottles breaking when picked up and full of coins. I have not seen it happen but that is a lot of weight. Chances are the seller just wants cash instead of the jar of coin.
I would only agree on $475 and hope you can get it home.
Use padding and a deep base hand cart. It wouldn't surprise me if it didn't shatter when tipped to the edge to get the carts plate under it.
So try to slide the bottle over the plate rather than tip it on edge to get the plate under.
Tricky situation!

from change received (not searched),

And if you believe that, I'd like to offer you a chance to purchase shares of stock on the Empire State building.
I'd just ask him to take them all to a bank himself.
I really dislike those NON SEARCHED coins.

Not everybody is searching their pocket change. I know I don't . Better things to do then look for the very rare 1955 double die.
