At that price point, I think it's worth grading regardless of what you intend to do with it.

Should I send it in with the whole mint box/coa or separate out just the ASE? Also PCGS says not to send them in capsule, but there's no way I want to be the one to remove it from the mint capsule... will they accept it in the mint package? |

As long as it's postmarked within 30 days of mint release, you'll get the First Strike designation even if removed from the shipping box. Only reason to keep in the shipping box is if you plan to ship it after 30 days. If you want to slab the CoA, feel free to send that in also, but personally I don't see the point since they're not serialzed. The website says "Please DO NOT send your coins in stapled holders, 2x2 flips, vinyl flips (that may contain PVC) or tubes, as doing so can cause a delay in processing. Please do not use an excess of tape or packing material." They mean tubes as in the white mint tubes that hold 20 eagles. Nothing that says no capsules. At worst it will just be a delay, but they've dealt with the mint capsules a million times before when grading the 2019-S ERP coins. I seriously doubt they'll reject the submission because it's in the mint capsule.

My NGC submission of the WW2 silver eagles is now out for delivery to NGC so only one day behind normal promised delivery when doing Registered rather than without. Although I live in a major metropolitan area so the transportation chain is probably less complicated also. Edited by mrpapageorgio

GraphTheory, My suggestion is to keep it in the OGP if you collect gold eagles in the OGP. If you collect slabbed gold eagles, then get it graded. If you're in it for the value, sell now. The vast majority of the time when there are limited new releases, the price spikes and then settle back down to a price significantly lower than the peak. Looking at a $10k coin is nice, but looking at the same coin two years later and realizing that it is now a $5 coin isn't as nice.

Graph Theory - did you end up grading? I got my AGE graded and got the results yesterday of PR70. Should arrive here Wednesday 1/6!

Wow congrats Eagle! Are you going to hold onto it for the kids or sell it? That's a $13k coin just looking on eBay of recently sales.

Lancek - I don't think this is comparable to that. The 2020 AGE is part of a series and will become a key date, not a one-off gold production of a usually clad or silver coin.

I agree with the above, sell it now, this gold eagle will drop. Not many people can afford a $13 K coin.
