I have separate containers for 1972 , 1969, 1992, 1955's and about every year and mint there is.. what is a organised way to actually go through all these coins and identify them? Any references are any guides that would be helpful?
The most logical way, IMO, is to buy a RedBook and pick one year, then begin by looking at the coin and comparing it to the one listed in the book. PCGS, NGC and other coin grading guides can be helpful.
Use the Red Book to identify what they should look like, then the reference sites already mentioned for anything unusual looking. Realise, not every coin is an error coin. Error coins are rare and not common. Keep this is mind and you'll do well.
