Hello. I hope everyone's doing well. I found doubling on the obverse of the New Hampshire Quarter, but I'm not sure if it's a doubled die or something else. I would be grateful if people could share their opinion about this coin.

I think it's just deterioration doubling, judging from the look of the rest of the coin. On a bright note, you have an unlisted trail die. Here is a link to their site and a pic below, pointing them out. http://www.traildies.com/2000-2020p...with_trails/

The incuse marks on the coin are damage. Some Machine Doubling is also seen on your coin. Just a spender. All the DDO's are on the ear lobes and Motto areas. On the States and ATB Quarters.
Motto doubling:

Note the distorted devices on the motto?

On the ear lobes the affected area will be raised above the fields or above the ear design. The doubled dies on most of the post 1999 coins are in the centers of the design on both sides of these coins. So looking away from center devices, is pretty much a waste of time. Best way to search is to look at examples on doubleddie.com to see what is out there for a variety. Looking without knowing will mostly find you Machine Doubling or DDD ( Die Deterioration Doubling) from worn dies.

Coop, I am assuming you are not in the trail dies camp? I know there is not much in between.

You mean these? The shot was was close in, I figured that they were die scratches. Because the image didn't show a wider view, I discounted them as die scratches.

Very nice, Coop! So are you saying the first pic of the proof nickel is or is not a trail die?
Also, I have several pics of trails, if you are interested.

They are collectables. As for value, I'm not sure what they are worth now. I find them interesting. They are known as a die issue and at one time were viewed like doubled dies, but were removed as they do are not a copy of the hubs design. Also the wavy steps are the same issue. They are probably the same thing. Viewed as hub drag, during the creation of the die. Thus they affect the corners of devices most of the time. I find them interesting. (My eye still looks for these)
