Recent pick up and first Mercury dime purchase.

The coins in seller's red case looked really sharp and BU but case looked old/beat up, so I took a chance. The red Capital Plastic case was beat up and I could not find a new Red one so picked up the new white one you see here.

I also used gloves for the dime handling which I rarely do. No cleaning was done although a couple could probably use a quick dip I refrained from any.

They look great on most high points and areas where wear should be detected. The bands even look relatively nice.

Opinions welcome.

Awesome looking set, even though these are the last years common, they are really to look at. It appears you have a bonus variety in that your 1945-S looks like the micro-S type, which brings a nice premium. The mintmark looks noticeably smaller than the other S mints.

Very nice looking set! I think it was best to not dip the coins, that would take away some of the luster. The white holder compliments the blazing luster.

I think you should take the hardware out of the old case, the new hardware stands out too much. The yellow plastic screws would go well with the gold lettering on the new holder.

I'll have to post the 45 S in a separate post enlarged for further evaluation.

I agree, I'll switch them out with the new plastic ones and see how it looks. I used the metal ones as I read a lot of comments about the plastic ones breaking. But I'll give it a go.

Thanks to all, appreciate it.

All the photos good enough to comment on grade or full bands?

Ok, here is the same set with the new plastic screws. I agree, these look much better than the metal.

But, one plastic screw did snap even though I was careful not to overtighten.

I also put the male ends on the reverse side.
