Does any one have the actual mintage for the 2022 Kennedy halves. I looked up on the US Mint site and got figures but when I look else where they are saying the mintage is different.
The Mint says 6.8 million Kennedy halves were produced. When you look up what they made for the double roll set it was 21,948 two roll sets which comes out to 877,920 coins. 200 count bags they made were 9,134 bags which comes out to 1,826,800 coins. Total production was 2,704,720 Kennedy halves production.
6.8 million to 2.704,720 why the big difference. I know they only produced halves in January..

Did you account for proof sets, silver proofs and uncirculated sets?

No did not add those figures in. Would that make up that much of a difference?

Congradulation set had 29,596
proof set had 261,061
silver proof no figures yet but last year was 272,119
unc sets limit of 250,000 sets X 2 = 500,000 limit

rough figures to be produced will be 790,657
with silver proof sets of maybe 300,000

Rough figure for production figures of Kennedy halves for everything would be 1,090,657
2,704,720
with all the sets with Kennedy halves added in would be a total of 3,795,377 coins

That is a far cry from the mint saying 6.8 million Kennedy halves being produced this year.I believe this year will have the least number of Kennedy half dollars ever produced. Hope I am right. Or at least close.

You do know 2022 isn't even half over, right?

If the Fed orders are like last year, there will be quite a few made for circulation, which you aren't counting.

The production through April was 1.6 million of each P and D mint. In May or June they minted an additinal 2.2 million of each for possible fed orders as BStrauss3 said. They did this last year with a total of 7.7 million D mint and 5.4 million P mint. People reported getting full boxes of new 2021 halves at their banks. The product numbers for the rolls and bags are just that, the number of each of those products, it does not necessarily relate to total mintage. Proof, Silver Proof and Uncorculated mintages are not included in the USM circulating coin production figures.

I guess I will have to wait and see. I called the mint and got totals of what was made and they said the 50 cents was minted in January. I added in 200 count bags, rolls of P and D ,proof sets congratulation sets, silver proof sets to be distributed, up and coming uncirculated sets to distributed and every single figure seems to be a lot lower than previous years. I am just hoping for a short year of Kennedy halves I guess. Thanks everyone for the feed back.I am going to keep digging.Last year in 2021 66% of the Kennedy halves were routed to the federal reserve for distribution to banks. This year it has not happened. Most all the coins were sold at the mint. I am still wondering. Two days ago when I called they told me all the halves were minted in January and none had been made since. What they were talking about was very low production figures and not meeting the 6.8 million they said they originally were going to produce. I still can only see maybe 4 million total. Thanks for hearing me vent, lol.

I agree. I believe they have lost their de facto NIFC status.

jbuck I choose door number two. I believe they are not going to produce surplus to introduce them as circulating coins. I will go nuts if they do. I am hoping no more. In the past years when they minted more Kennedy's they minted them at different times throughout the year. I just don't see that happening. I guess I am hoping too much. You will probably be right, ugh.

According to the numbers you quoted, it already has. Around four million (and counting) sitting in vaults. It is only a matter of time before these extra 2022 halves are reported by the roll hunters in the monster topic. Maybe. It depends on the draw from the banks. Once the vaults get stuffed again, the Fed will quit ordering them form the Mint and production will go back down to earlier NIFC levels.

I would assume they have made up some for the mint sets plus some extras. Other than 2018 and 2021 that 6.8 million figure is pretty much standard (sometimes a little less) for every year from 2002 to date

Additional half dollars were made since January 2022, and like 2021, a majority of these were delivered to the Federal Reserve for circulation. Total production for the year to date is 6,800,000.
