This nickel has a crack in the 5 o'clock position on the obverse. Is it environmental damage or something else? Also, does it look cleaned?  Here's a shot of the reverse.

Small planchet lamination. The reverse looks possibly cleaned in the past.

Laminations in the metal like this are usually caused by improper annealing or impurities in the alloy.

IMHO, the slight lamination gives this attractive FH Buff an air of character that distinguishes it. It adds a talking point to this otherwise pleasing coin. All it needs is an appropriate name, like the "Apple Crack" variety ....
