Yes, a greasy ghost makes sense. I'll have to ponder that when I get home as I've not seen one so deep and complete.

Haven't come across this before either. Cool.
A solidified grease plug certainly seems like the most plausible explanation.

It seems that if a very very late stage brockage (that only plugged up the bust) fell out, it would leave a different texture around the anomaly.

One weird thing about it is the front of Abe's jacket is missing on the reverse. I'm thinking the foreign matter didn't have time to completely fill in the jacket before it fell out, seeing that that part of the jacket isn't as deep into the die.

Well I have been pondering it. Greasy ghost seems to make the most sense, but not completely. For this much grease to have migrated to the center, typically a fair bit of other aspects of the reverse would show grease strike as well. Here, other than the central Lincoln, nothing else seems to have any grease effect at all.

Has Mike been asked to have a look at this yet? I'm curious as to what he would have to say. (I still think PIDT though - maybe with a bit of grease)

Yes, an exceptionally nice example of a "greasy ghost".

Tropicalbats, here's what a cent struck through (or brockaged by) a largely complete dropped filling looks like. I know of just one other example.

Wow. An amazing example Mike.
Now I have a question about the coins struck directly before Mikes 1993 Memorial cent example.

With that grease filling all of the dies devices, could a previously struck coin resemble a late brockage or would it be more of a uniface?
