I can't quite tell if this is a lamination, scraping damage, or a combination of things. I'll be interested to see what others think.

The first question that comes to mind: if it's a lamination or scrape, how does it appear to pass under the star?

Under the star sure, but also through the flame? Not sure @brand. What do you think it is?

Perhaps a stain? It's hard to say, maybe an angled shot towards the edge of the anomaly would clear it up. I have a handful of War Nickels with laminations, and the separations run straight through the devices. I can't remember seeing one where the lamination went under a letter and came out the other side.

Pictures could be larger, but it could struck on imperfect/flawed planchet.
Also could be a stain, as we've seen stains that look like imperfections.

Guys it is not a stain, sorry I do not have a scope to be able to take a pic on an angle. Hopefully this pic will help.

With the current pics, I would guess Feeder Finger Damage, it is in the same direction I have seen it on quarters.

I guess I always think of Feeder Finger Damage as long, deep, straight scratches through the field.

Interesting.
