This morning I logged in the US Mint website to make sure my subscriptions were all active and noticed the estimated prices kind of shocked me since neither set have silver in them. The uncirculated set was a bit more than the proof set . Anyone else notice the hike? Is it because of the secondary market lately?

Oh yes, we are very much aware. It seems like gouging to me but at this point if you want to continue your collection it is what it is, or you wait for the secondary market.

There is a lot of discussion here:

Welcome Coinstocollect,

I have seen Today the Mint's site and while I was there I too noticed the Uncirculated sets and Proof sets that are non Silver, Are $124.50. I also noticed the 2021, 2022 and 2025 sets all selling for that amount.

I Too am baffelled, Why such premiums are on those products?

No Clue as to why Except maybe in the Frenzy of precious metals rising they were in a panic and decided to use the term "TBD" . I believe they also were asleep at the wheel, Being Before the Frenzys, I bought 2024 ASE's for $91.00 each, When Silver spot was around $100.00/oz. They have Never sold products under Spot, Until then......

So I believe they were caught off guard and their answer was, Raise the product schedule through the roof across the menu.

I am Hoping Now that Silver and Gold took a dive in the last few weeks, Maybe, just maybe they will come closer to Earth prices.

PS, The precious metals of Silver and Gold are Again, On the Rise.......

Another Great topic, Thanks Coinstocollect, MD.

Hello Celtic,

I visited the Mint's site, Since collecting these Sets, I have halted my subscription on The Uncirculated Sets, Proof Sets as of 2025.

I am thinking they too will be available Later on the Mint's own site or the secondary's, Far To many options for This year .

Staying focused on Other Collectibles Soon to be released

Another option is that maybe...just maybe... we don't yet know what is going to be included in the annual sets this year and maybe the price hikes will be (somewhat?) justified.

I've speculated in other chats that the proof sets might include the innovation dollar proofs now, but that hardly justifies such a large hike. So that's a possibility, maybe some other cool stuff for the semiquincentennial? Who knows?

But, pessimistically, I just think it's going to be the same old sets with the new coin designs.

It's just basic marketing for collectibles.

When you have a relatively small product line and need to raise prices in one sector, like when silver costs go up, you apply a similar profit margin across all products.

Hardcore collectors understand why precious metal coins increase in price, but most don't get why it affects non-precious metal coins.

The less informed buyers don't know either reason.

At first, the company may lose some customers, but eventually, new buyers come in who are fine with the higher prices.

Hardcore collectors usually don't keep companies afloat and can sometimes be more of a hassle than the other 80% of the market base so they don't care when they lose a fewof us.
