Okay, after getting on the forum earlier today, I felt compelled to spend money I don't have, so I went to the local coin store. I bought a silver eagle for my "retirement" stash, bought some more BU Jefferson nickels, and was going to buy this, but the dealer told me I could have it for free. I guess I spend enough at his store to get some comps.   |

Considering I have dumped about $1,300 in his cash register over the last month, I guess he figured he'd throw me a bone. But still, I appreciated it.

It's been a busy couple of days for me. Last night at my coin club meeting, one of the older guys sold me a bag of random nickels and pennies for $15. Inside were BU War Nickels, proof Wheaties and LMCs, Indian Heads, Shield nickels, Liberty nickels, and a variety of Wheaties including a few nice hole fillers such as a 1912-D. He also included some 2x2s wrapped in foil for free. Inside was some more proofs, including a very nice blue and gold toned 1984 proof 5 pence, and a rather beaten half dime(which I have been looking to get for my type set)  ! After this I won a raffle. The prize was a proof copy of a Stone Mountain commemorative half dollar  ! Not very valuable, but still very nice! Today I went to a local antiques store( there are no real coin stores where I live, so I have to go there for coins  ), and bought a 1941 Nazi 5 reichspfennig for a quarter and a couple of Buffalo nickels for a buck fifty. The dates were 1938-D and (after removing some gunk) a 1913-D    ! Still trying to determine if it raised ground or not. Got any advice for cleaning the rest of the hard gunk off of the nickel  ( to determine raised ground status)? Also, I got the 1970 proof set I won on ebay in the mail today, too! Oh yeah, I got something for you coin roll hunters out there, too: I bought a few rolls of nickels today with the rest of my coin budget, and found something very interesting: one roll had a weird mound going around it. I open it up, and find something that does not look like a nickel: a Mexican 50 centavos coin! I wonder how it got into the roll with such a drastically different shape...  I'll try and post pics later, but I might not be able to. What a day, huh?  |

Well - no pics, but I filled some more Ike holes in the album.
71-S silver proof, 72-S BU silver, 73-S silver proof, 74-S BU silver. Also bought a 76 S proof type II - got home, and found I accidentally had a TII in the TI hole - so now I have an extra 76-S TII proof!
I also ordered a 2012-s clad proof half and a 1966 SMS.

Today I bought: 1962 1969-s 1974-s 1975-s 1976-s 1980-s 1981-s Those are all proof lincoln cents. Perhaps, I bought one IKE, 1972-s silver, one 1993 jefferson proof nickel, 5 BU wheat cents common 50's dates. My dealer seemed happy that I spent 45 dollars on him. The other guy who I sometimes buy I bough the wheat cents from him. I wanted more of the 60's proof lincolns but someone like me bought most up, lol. I guess I will need to use ebay for the other ones I want. ( can't buy any now though) I didn't get the box of pennies I wanted. Maybe tomorrow. |
