New to the forum, loads of info leaned from browsing the pages....

Got into coin roll hunting about a month ago, and addicted, I've found a few rosies, one 40% half, and a merc, loads of fun, and something to do while watching tv.

Now for the ticked off wife part..... she's not mad I've got money tied up in change, she enjoys it too, and we split all the rolls and search equally.... she's ticked because out of 1400 searched, I've found the most, about a 3-1 ration, but she did find the oldest so far, a 42 merc

Thanks everyone for all the great info posted on here!

Too funny! Tell her to log on so she can complain about it. LOL

It is the oddest thing. I will search rolls and search change and find nothing for the longest time and the one day I find 5 keepers in 30 minutes. Go figure.

I've been collecting for about a year. My husband is interested too but I'm the nerd searching rolls and change. It's fun to have a spouse at least share the interest.

Just tell her that you're really not spending any money and it's time spent together doing something together.

It's hard to match that doing something else!

That's cool holdem, my wife has recently shown interest in the dime rolls I bring home. Last nite it was 6 boxes worth of dimes, we had a little competition going, a little fun too!

Here's a little bit of free advice...

"salt" some of the rolls she's searching, and let her win!

Let her win? Oh heck no! You grab every last one you can get and tell her get her own. If I dont beat mine off with a stick she takes them all. Evil thing she is, taking my preciouses.

Hey now, smokey, I'm the one who does all the leg work. You're lucky I haven't gone through all the rolls before you get home.

3 boxes tomorrow. How many do you think will be left by the time you get off work?

Better to have a ticked off wife than a ticked off ex-wife!

Thanks for the welcome all! My wife's B-day is coming up, and to make her happy, I'm planning on getting as many rolls of quarters as I can, so she can go through and fill some holes on her State Quarter book and ATB book, then what ever is left over, will be used for a night out on the town. I'm pretty sure that'll keep her happy for a while.

My wife was "ticked off" about the ASE Set purchases too ! ....
She wants me to sell a raw Set to hopefully pay for both Sets.....

As far as roll searching with her.....that's awesome that you two do that !
I'm such a stickler for being "thorough" when I search rolls, that I'm never confident that someone else's search was good enough.
I'd be so worried that she'd miss some coins that I'd have to "re-search" everything she searched ! ....
Is that bad ? ....
I did this while searching Halves.......it was exhausting !
Perhaps I should "lighten up" and try this again sometime.

This is quite an touchy topic for this household. I've written about my Cent searching here, laying 12x12 sheets around the house with my wife getting more and more ticked. It's odd how she only relents once I show her something I found that is worth say....what she spends on a new purse (to add to the 63 that are currently in the closet)
My wife has wanted to learn a VERY SMALL bit about different series I have, but at least has let me continue so that's at least my small victory
