Ok...I am a "Modern" coin collector so I don't know much about Classic US coins. This mall has a bunch of Morgans and Peace dollars...Booker T Halves and Columbian Expedition coins. Some seem like great deals. I took some blurry pics of some of them but here is the list of some that I know they have...

Morgan's
1880 - (it has the initials OT on the 2x2) $44
1889-o (has initials OH on 2X2) $46
1921 (3 of them) $44-$46
1921s $46

Peace-
1934s- (says "low mintage" on 2x2) No Price on it
1935- (says low mintage) No price

Booker T MS -27.00

Set of War Nickles in amazing shape $6.oo each

ANy of these stand out?

Thanks,

25 times face is going rate for "junk 90% silver"...make 'em an offer and see if they refuse.

Well most of them are not "junk silver"...there are a few that would grade very high. I could probably get some of them a little above siver value but only a couple are in that bad of shape. If I buy them it would be the nice ones to put in my collection. I just do not know much about Morgan and Peace dollars (or Booker T or Columbian Ex.)

Rest in Peace

I have no idea what those initials on the 2X2's mean. It is probably for the store owner's reference.

I think they are priced high unless they are in AU condition.

You could always make an offer based on the melt price.

I did not call the coins "junk", that is a staring point for an offer to make (25 times face) and see if they will barter with you. The worse thing that I would say "no, thank you".

Gotcha...you just meant offer "junk silver" prices...I am gonna try to pick up the 42D and 42P Nickels and pass on the rest of them.

I also am goin to try to get the 34P Peace dollar (900,000minted)

The Booker T Half Dollar is MS and its a 1947 only 6,000 Minted...that seems like a bargain No?

One thing to keep in mind is that silver dollars have slightly more silver than other silver coins. I believe it's .715 oz for each dollar of face for dimes, quarters & halves while silver dollars each contain .775 oz each. That makes melt value of a dollar around $27 right now.

In my area $35-45 will buy a common date Morgan or Peace in circulated condition at any of the antique malls. There are times when a dealer who doesn't know any better puts out a better date coin for the same price. IMO those are the ones to buy.

Tough to tell without pics, but with that said....very rarely do I see good deals on coins in antique malls. It seems like most of the prices you listed were a little (or some alot) on the high side. I have found a few fair enough deals at antique shops or antique malls, but very rarely is there a good deal, most of them are overpriced. I would buy coins elsewhere.

looks like since he has low mintage and no price on the coins that are actually lower mintage's than the other coins tells me this person knows a little about coins and not somewhere you could go to get "a deal" on coins or cherry pick from. Chances are you will not get a great deal from the sellers that knows about coins like you would from some scrap dealer that doesn't really deal or care to deal in coins themselves and they only represent silver to them
