Ummm, do you dudes ever show your coins to people other than the CCF folk? I must admit that I occasionally show (show-ff) my coins if my buddies come over to hang-out (and yes, I can read which dudes think coin collecting is dry/lame and which think that it is cool enough) ... anyway, I find that most people think that our obsession is really quite awesome (sure, some people think that I spend far too much cash on coins, but hey, we don't have kids and we happen to live in butt-hump nowhere so spending a bit of cash on coins seems like a fairly sound idea!) ... I'm just sayin' I actually find it super-cool showing my friends and family about my collection (and arggghhh, "yes", I have a safe!) anyway ... I was merely curious if the rest of you show-off your coins occasionallly, or if you're all forced to hide your hobby due to theft-paranoia (reality)?

Very few actually. Same with what is contained in the other three safes.
My reason is, they are mine. I worked hard to obtain them...and I don't want somebody else trying to take them. People talk.
I DO share them at the local coin club. Believe every person there has 10x the number and probably 20x the value that I have.

I've taken a few Danscos to work to show some fellow coin collectors. I don't usually show at home. I would rather not let to many people know where they are.

No I really don't but that is mostly due to the fact that not too many people in the area let it be known that they collect or are even interested in coins. I agree with Acloco "people talk"
Keep it secret keep it safe!

I have shown one co-worker my type set, and she knows I have other coins. No one else has seen them, and even my family doesn't know the size of my collection.

Yah man, it's really too bad eh? ... because it is soooooo cool showing people how cool our coins are, but "yes", I really don't want to be the "town's coin guy" => hey, there he is => yah, that's him, he lives over there on Biggity-Up Street!

Very rarely. My wife knows exactly what I have. If I do share them physically, it's a very small number of people. The main reason is security with the second being most are at the bank...back and forth.

Reminds of a discussion that I had recently....his quote:
"Not that we have a choice, but if I go before my wife does, will one of you PLEASE let her know that all of the rifles and pistols in the safe are worth a LOT more than a hundred bucks each!".

I show my family some things but they aren't really interested. I haven't spent a lot on my collection (yet) because I have only been serious about this for the past year. But I want my family to know about it just in case...
My husband shares my interest so he knows....
And I will bring coins to my local coin club meetings sometimes.

I share mine mainly with family and good friends. As my mates are mostly in their late teens, only one or two of them are actually interested - the rest think that its pretty lame and and cant believe how much I spend on it. However, when I make a big purchase I usually like to show it off. I know that probably isn't the best thing to do security wise, but some of my coins I'm especially proud of.

I acquired my collection before marriage. (43 yrs) They were put away so I wouldn't consider selling for needs or wants. My wife is now aware of what I have but I don't think she understands the obsession. My daughter & grandchildren seem to have more interest which is good since they will end up with the best pieces. OH - also enjoy sharing with CCF.

I show my coin collection to friends all the time. I live on an Air Force base so security is not a problem. And also the weather is so bitter cold no one would want to go outside. It's winter 9 months out of the year.
