Amr, I only collect one type of coin. They must only be coins from Planet Earth. LOL Did you receive the pre-decimal Aussie coins I sent you? Steve

Quote: Truly ... I have read everything I could get my hands on ... memorized tons of info ... shared some knowledge here ... and have looked through thousands of coins in hand at shows to supplement my learning ...
I have set very high standards for the set ... beautiful MS coins for one set and honestly circulated for the second set ... in both cases my acquired knowledge and high standards have allowed me to make IMHO wonderful selections of coins that I humbly state are quality selections from a great series.
You can actually view photos of both current sets at the USA Commemorative forum if you wish to see them.
To this day I still am lacking many coins to fill my commemorative collection ... so perhaps I am starting to become a 'specialist' in this set ... but personally I do not see myself that way. This is what I meant David So, did you collect any other coins aside to this set.... if not what do you intend to do after completing both the high grade and the regular circulating sets? and how did you manage to not buy any other coins and focus only on one set? I ask this because I love many coin designs that seems to distract my focus on what I am try to complete now and the result is that I start many sets that may be will take years to complete and I know that before I even complete them, I will start new ones ....... how can you resist this?

So this is a way of collecting only one type, not for ever but you can call it "one type at a time"..... interesting.. so you are not buying any other until you complete the Lincoln set?

Quote: Not exactly true. If you really wanted to you could constantly ask members to send you items. You could end up having a better and larger US coin collection than people here. Mostly, as with many things, you have to ask. I agree, but I meant that the option of having many coins to select from is not available or as easy as that with your own country coins

Steve You may be missing out on some really great Klingon coins if you stick to only Earth. And Amr, hopefully you will get the roll of Lincoln Wheat Cents and Albums I sent via those people that are supposed to be going there.

@ just carl, How about those ancient coins from Romulan empire. Or those pesky Ferengi modern varieties that are so difficult to track from deep space 9.

After much thought and deliberation and extensive research (i.e. ebay surfing) I have narrowed my area of specialization to one type of coin: ROUND. So many discs, so little time.. and money!

Quote:by the way, in the coin club I attend, I am now known as the US coins specialist Congratulations! Quote: Exactly, this is what I am talking about...... what after all the sets you are after are complete? will you start upgrading all? or will you find like a retirement set or coin that you will start to go in depth? I do not upgrade my coins; that is, once I fill the hole, it is filled forever. I have a sentimental attachment to every coin, so I am reluctant to let any of them be replaced. The sets (Dansco albums) I have completed are Eisenhower dollars, Kennedy half dollars, Franklin half dollars, Washington quarters, Roosevelt dimes, and Jefferson nickles. The sets I have left to complete are Indian Head cents, Lincoln Cents, Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, and the 7070 Type set. It is important to note that the current series albums (Lincoln, Jefferson, and Roosevelt) are full; newer issues are in a separate "ultra modern" album and holes are filled as they are released. Once those albums are done, my goal is to start the high end Eisenhower dollar set. I will focus my time and other resources on completing it (while keeping my modern issues current). Keep in mind that this is in the far future, since it most likely will not happen until after the 7070 is completed. Quote: That will be a set I would enjoy seeing jbuck. This is a set that will be photographed and shared as it is built! I have a lot of anxiety about photographing my Dansco albums, but this Ultimate Eisenhower dollar set will be photographed from day one, allowing me to focus on each and every coin as it is acquired.

Specialize in one coin? Heck, I can't even settle on one camera to take pictures of them.

I'm opposite to jbuck in that I have one space to fill. Whichever coin is the best candidate gets the space. The others get rotated. I suppose this is mostly from lack of funds on my part, but my philosophy is why tie up the money in the lower grade coin when there are always bigger fish out there There are a few sentimental coins I hold onto, but I can't really find it in me to build an emotional attachment to something I picked up in a local shop, or on ebay.

I'm trying to save up money to finish the set up and if I buy other kinds of coins, i'll never have enough cash to complete anything :(
