Wow. Hope you bought when silver was at the bottom of 30.
I did get some of my hoard in that price area but more of it at $32-37. I'm not too concerned about prices because I am pretty sure that we will look back on 2010-2012 as "the good old days when silver was cheap". It is more important to me to have the PM ounces I want / need than it is to have bought in at the lowest possible price.

Just because I'm really lazy...how many oz's is that?
Just over 144 troy ounces in this shipment.

Nice score Ed, really nice to see as always.
Thanks, Hawk, appreciate the comments. Fact is, it was mostly your comments on the CCF web site that got me into starting this collection! Thanks, man.

You could open up a silver store if you wanted to, and have plenty of stock. I know that is not your plan for the short term anyhow, set on it until need be why not, as it is not as if you need the money/dying dollars.
Yes, my supply is pretty good these days and I could open a store if I wanted to do that. As you say, though, this is not why I got the silver collection going. This is my future emergency stash.

It is just a no-brainer, and in time I could turn it right back into more gold, train stock, whatever, as it all sells eventually....

The gold / silver ratio now is pretty high at almost 54 to 1. If it were to drop back into the area of 30 to 1 or lower, I would be interested in swapping some of this silver for gold. If I did that, I would probably look at getting some 1/4 oz. AGEs.

I am gonna toss out a guess on how many oz. Ed has, lets guess 650 oz....
LOL! Maybe I should have put that up as a poll question? Ha ha On second thought, Hawk, I think that you've been paying attention and are keeping track. I have made some small local buys here and there of a few coins each that I have not mentioned here. All totaled, though, it comes to 677 troy ounces. This is about 2/3 of the hoard that I was hoping to build. Once this is satisfied, it will be time to turn to thoughts of gold and perhaps other PMs as well.

my money's on 105 oz
BZZZZT! 7-out, line away!

Average purchase price? Perhaps $7/oz.
Now THAT is simply awesome! I love hearing from the collectors who got into silver or gold collecting back when metals were cheaper and who have some really nice coins that they got for cheap. Excellent job, Sel. You are an inspiration!

Nice. So the proofs came in rolls instead of the mint plastic holders? I just never saw them like that. Are they mixed states or specific? Just wondering
When I placed the order, I asked that the proofs come in plastic tubes, if possible. I don't know if they would have come this way anyway or not. I really like the square plastic tubes because they stack well and are durable for long-term storage. The proofs are all different states. Not sure about the years, as that doesn't matter to me and I only opened the one tube for the picture. It is hard to believe how shiny they are! It is like they took a small mirrored disk and made it into a coin. I have a tube of proof
Kennedy halves that have a similar look... VERY nice looking coins. The funny part of this is that these proof 90% silver quarters cost LESS than the pre-1965
Washington quarters in average circulated condition! Not sure what is up with that but it sure is good for those of us who like to collect really nice looking US 90% silver coins.
