The seller states that 75% of the 1129 pounds is silver coins. If that's true, that's roughly $400k in silver alone.
I wonder what the reserve is.

My guess, $300,000 top bid buy won't meet reserve

Bad news for them, that's so huge and diverse, they're going to have to break it up to sell it.

they need to break it up by denomination at least.

The silver weight alone is worth close to a half million! I'd bet the weight is a bit less actually as many of the coins were weighed in albums and holders but still - what a hoard! I'd love to go through the dollars for VAM's. I saw a ton of 1878 dollars in the photos.

Unfortunately the only people who have enough money to shell out $300K to buy this are the melters

I'm a bit suspicious....the seller said that the original owner wanted to be a dealer and even worked a coin show with him...so you know that he's been through the lot and picked out the really good stuff.

I wonder how one would even go about paying for something like this. I don't think my PayPal limit would be sufficient.
Also, while free shipping is nice, I think my mailman would have a heart attack if he had to deliver half a ton of coins...

Lets see, if every one on here put in $100.00 towards a group buy, we still couldn't do it. Oh well.
