Poll Question
At one time or another all of us have had coins mailed to us or we've mailed coins to someone via Canada Post. This poll is to determine the general C.C.F. consensus of how Members feel about this Crown Corporation. My personal opinion of C.P. is very positive+++++ The reason why I state this is from the personal experience I've had with the 3,000 + coins sold/bought from collectors/dealers all over Canada. In the 10 years of collecting and all the transactions I've made, only 1 package has gone missing. Fortunately it was only a $12.00 coin sent from Ontario. Yes there have been time that I've been mildly disappointed in the pace I would receive a coin, however, when I look at the overall picture, I'm a very satisfied customer. The poll below lists 10 numbers. Ten (10) being a highly satisfied customer of Canada Post and one (1) being an highly dissatisfied customer of Canada Post. Let me know how you feel about C.P.? Glenn

See my thread (Canada Post lost registered mail), and my answer becomes pretty obvious...

From times to times, I mail stuff from Turkey to the States, Australia, Europe and Canada. Mostly, Canada has the slowest delivery time - it's far from here this is a possible logical explanation, but so does Australia and there's a fixed delivery time of 14-15 days. Canada has varied, I've seen items making there in three weeks, four weeks, even two months and a couple of losses. The most notable loss I've experienced was an ebay sale about three years ago, which I registered the package and when tracked, it still says "released from customs, waiting for delivery in Montreal" or something like that about some 1 1/2 years ago last time I checked. The parcel never got past that stage. With all the given, even though Canada is a beautiful country and Canadians are wonderful people, I can't say I am satisfied with Canada Post. :( So a 2 Pts. from me.

I have had several items shipped from Canada to the US and haven't experienced any losses.
I do purchase coins directly from Canada Post on occasion and I have found the shipping to be very speedy, items packaged securely to prevent damage, and free shipping. For that I give them a 10/10. Occasionally their website doesn't function well and that can be frustrating.
Overall a 8/10 from me.

My experience is that I've had a total of 1 package lost and 1 package damaged. All other mislaid or missing packages have turned up as shipper error.
My 1 missing package was 3 MS-65 25c pieces mailed from Pickering to Hamilton ... I'll bet shipper error on it because the same shipper did make an error on a different shipment.
The damaged package was a MS-65 1939 1c that got smushed in a roller of some sort in processing. In this case I also point at the shipper because it wasn't protected in any way. ICCS holder dropped in envelope, a stamp and out the door.

Canada post does a good job but I find it too expensive to send coins out of N. America usually about $65.00 registered that's way too much compared to other countries where I pay less than half that to receive a registered package.

Very biased poll. Most voters are Canadian and have not experienced USPS.
Still the very low results speak for themselves. Canada Post sucks worse than the Afghanistan post office.

looks like high marks to me. I have 800 plus items sent or received and 0 lost. One thief from allentown pa who didn't send the item until I started calling his cell at 2 or 3 am. Canada post may be slow at times, but at least the items get here. One week from Australia to middle of the prairies is pretty good.

One week from Australia to middle of the prairies? They didn't even stop for coffee on that trip.

It's a 7 for me. It is not the speedy or lost problem, it is more the postal workers reading my Coin news or takeing the coins I ordered(3 times) and for the most part, makeing excuses. I don't trust them in the slightest. I always insure anything valuble. I need to mail something to the United States, maybe I,ll just go mail it from across the river.

Working for them is about 8/10 as far as service excellent 9.5/10. Bit pricey for small packages though!

Never had a problem with Canada Post, per se. Did have one shipment to a U.S. buyer say they never got the coin. as for cost... yup they do take a big bite... but what Canadian business doesn't with they way we're taxed.

I'm OK the Post Office as an entity, I just don't like union employment in general. You can't promote the stars and you can't fire the morons so instead service standards fade out to a lackluster grey. Registered mail prices are a joke as well.
In terms of getting my stuff out here in the boonies it generally arrives intact but slow. I know for a fact the postie doesn't take the full load on Fridays because she wants to get back early from her Rural route to pick her kids up. That's life.
What I do like are the stamps, we have nice stamps. I'm about a seven. They could do better but it does get done. Eventually. Sort of like murder investigations in Canada by police. Someone eventually gets around to looking at it.

years ago I found out something that really bothered me about CP. I used to ship items to a friend in Ontario and he told me that CP can open the package as it comes into Canada and then charge the person receiving the package 5.00 for having done so! I have a lot of problems with the USPS, but at least we cannot have that happen down here. However, I also find it weird the USPS says they are not making as much money b/c the Internet has cut down their business. They say this will result in slower service. Now why, when you are not handling as much mail, would you have to slow down? Even if you lay off people, the (claimed) reduced volume of mail should mean remaining employees should not have more work to do.

not to hijack the thread, but the thing about speed is not so much the individual letter carrier, but the infrastructure--- planes, trucks, and especially sorting facilities. I know they're making massive cuts by closing regional sort hubs, and I wouldnt be surprised if they are consolidating trucks and whatnot. Think of it this way--- if you have a route which has an econoline van full of material to move to a sort center 100 miles away every day, then your material moves every day... but if you're looking to cut costs a semi truck driven once a week to a bigger sort facility 200 miles away would be more economical. And slower.
And that's how cost cuts will slow service, even with a lower volume.
As the ups commercial says "da da da da ta da that's logistics"
/hijack. Sorry.
