Just wondering if anyone else will be giving their favorite tellers a gift during the holiday season. I usually give out a few gift cards to my favorites to show my appreciation for all of the ordering, heavy lifting and first rate customer service they provide. Trust me - being a thankful customer makes their day.

Yes, I do. I have 5 banks I visit regularly for pickups and dumping. I give each bank 2 loaves of home made pumpkin bread every year. THEY LOVE IT and I've found it to be a nice thank you. The tellers at the two banks that I've been using the longest tell me they look forward to the bread.

Its not necessary, they are just doing their jobs.Do people come into your job and give you presents for doing your job? No. Plus they might get in trouble for accepting your gifts.Just say thank you for your help all year!

Lincoln - I agree it is not necessary, a weekly box of halves is no big deal. But I order 4 boxes a week and at least once every two months, 10 boxes per week. And the teller is a woman, so all of that heavy lifting is above and beyond for her. And when I come in she always saves whatever oddities find their way into the bank for me. I deal with many banks and branches in this hobby and see the many personalities of the tellers. I feel it is important to compliment and reward those who go well above and beyond. I am happy she 'is just doing her job', but it seems nowadays more and more people do gripe and complain about doing their job, yet still want to get paid the full wage.
Good Karma! Pass it along, you never know when it will come back to you!

I have one teller who I deal with getting coin from and I might get her something. She has been saving me things, like a 1913 Wheat penny, and now she is ordering the bank extra coin without even asking me what I want, just so I can get anything I want to search in a given week. Might do something small for her. It might help in the long run since I asked her to look out for stuff for me fingers crossed

I agree, Lincoln, it's not necessary. There are lots of things that aren't necessary but are still nice to do. The tellers go through quite a bit of effort on my behalf. There is no fee charged for ordering coins and I know that if they felt like it they could as it's in the agreement I signed. No percentage or fee for me dumping the coins into the counting machine and again, I know they could. I figure even with the holiday bread, I'm coming out ahead. What SilverEagle said is true, especially at this time of year: Quote: Good Karma! Pass it along, you never know when it will come back to you!

It may not be necessary as they are just doing their jobs but I tell you what; it's not necessary to tip the garbage man either but since I started doing that around the holiday's I found I get some really good service. Since the first time I did that the garbage man doesn't leave my cans a half mile down the road anymore. If I forget to take out the trash they stop and come to the door, ring the bell and ask if we have any trash, they even proceed to take it out of the garage, down the driveway and bring the can back. They also started bringing the cans up the drive to the garage, like I said, instead of leaving them a half mile down the road. Even a small $20 gift card goes a long way, and with bank tellers they will remember you... just as my garbage men do.

They're not just doing their job, because they don't have to order boxes for you.
I plan on picking up a couple assorted snack boxes(chocolate covered pretzels or something) for 2 of my banks. I don't have just 1 teller I deal with, so I would hate to give a gift to just 1 person, atleast the snacks will make a few employees happy.

I would say it depends. If you just pickup a box that they have on hand every week or 2, I would say no. If you are having them order boxes for you, or you are picking up multiple boxes every week I would get them a little something. Also if you do a lot of dumping I would do something for them too. I see that being a bigger issue with tellers than ordering a box or 2 of coin.
Honestly, with the price of silver, if you've gotten 1 pre 65 half or 2 pre 65 quarters etc. from you bank you can afford a $10 box of cookies. I'm a big believer in giving at Christmas time though, especially to those who don't make a lot of money (tellers, barbers, cleaning lady) or have tough jobs (garbage man, etc).
BTW, I have never heard of any banks that forbid Christmas treats being given to employees from customers. Only bank vendors (appraisers, attorney's etc.) have limitations, and it has to be over a certain amount. That being said I would still limit it to food items.

No, not necessarily a Holiday gift. I've established working relationships with several tellers over the years. I order boxes of half's. I've found many proof clads. I have cleaned then up, put them in flips and have give them to the tellers. I tell them what I found, explain what it is, these are not found in circulation and say "This is for you". They "really" appreciate that. You would be amazed how far that goes! They have should the coin to other co-workers/tellers, now they all want to help me. When they see me come in, their thinking everyday is a holiday.
