I may be overstepping my bounds, but this piece is driving me nuts. Got it off an old refridgerator, therefore the glued on magnet. Apparently someone didn't realize what they had. I've been offered 100. at the Grange Hall. Maybe someone here has ties to this organization. It's a fob, I'm guessing. Not the best of pics, the itemis 3/8 inch thich, which leads me to believe it op4ens somehow.

Acetone wont budge the magnet. With the inscriptions, I have to think it's more than just junk.
Any input appreciated!

From the inscription H T W S S T K S, it's obviously Masonic. This leads me to believe that it probably opens into some kind of cross shape like a Masonic Orb.
How is another matter

Yeah, I agree that the handshake symbol probably indicates it is Masonic. I've seen that symbol before on their stuff.

Agree it's Masonic and that the thickness is unusual. If it's a container, the edge of an opening would have to be hidden under the magnet or hidden by the design. Any chance the circular patterns on the front hide the edges of a threaded lid?

If you have a friendly Jeweler, why not get him to take a look at it.

He might even come up with a way of removing the magnet.

sorry just out of my own interest,, the piece was used in masonic initiation rituals

taken from darkfiber dotcom/tomb/htwsstks.html
The candidate is then furnished with a block representing a keystone, which he is requested to carry between the thumb and two first fingers of the right hand, the other fingers clinched with the nails tight against the palm, the arm extended down perpendicularly at the side. The two officers carry their blocks in the same manner. The three are styled "Workmen from the quarries." As we have before said, the block which the candidate carries represents a keystone, and has the initials H. T. W. S. S. T. K. S. engraved upon it in a circle.

cool huh,
