I bought the 2011 1911 silver dollar commemorative simply b/c I like the regal look. Since I was a kid, and before I ever saw this effigy, the word "king" always brought a very similar picture to my mind. Unfortunately I missed the entire proof set since it was sold out by the time I heard of it

These have dropped in price after the initial ebay rush, so maybe some day I will get one.

I love the look of the new gold w/diamond coin, but that's out of my reach right now.

The most expensive Canadian coin I purchased was an 1892 50 Cent graded VF and the most expensive world coin was a boring old bullion 2011 Australian Platinum Platypus.

Been fairly quiet as of late although I recently picked up about $28 face value pre-1967 silver coinage for well under melt including pretty nice 1935, 1936, and 1937 Dollars.

I've only acquired four Canadian coins this year; one of them was a 1913 gold $5. At AU$570, it was my second-most expensive purchase of the year, after an ancient Roman JVDAEA CAPTA denarius.

=> oh, but the "real" cash-cow purchases in 2011 were all associated with the Dominion of Canada Notes! (gorgeous, but *ouch*) => it's like buying "artwork" ... but it's all good!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of my new CCF gang!
