The Parliament House design pictured here is certainly a favourite amongst collectors. I have five examples of this coin, simply because I like it.

I would kill for that 1911 penny it is fantastic. But I love the 1927 parlement house coins , they are the best of the predecimal designs A close second favorite would have to be our dollar coin with the mob of roos unequally Aussie after that the one dollar note, sadly removed from circulationnearly 3 decades ago See my avitar

My favourite is by far the 1911-1936 penny design. Very simple and not too imaginative but looks fantastic fully lustrous or nicely toned. King George portrait is by far the best of any monarch (not that we've had many) but even when comparing to older British coins.

It's only a naked bloke riding a horse, It is a rare and expesive florin but cumon a gay mardigra figure on a florin as the best Aussie design, I beg to differ. I have 1 of these but only to fill my dansco.

No I wouldn't .Its all been done before. And the naked bloke on a horse has been done to death on the old Brit crowns and soverigns. The parlement house, 1 dollar and the 1 dollar note are true Aussi designs and I think the best. I'm not homophobic or anything like that, but this post was about the best Australian coin design and the centenary florin is just "ORDANARY" in my book

My favourites would be, in approximate order (which may change depending on my mood): - 1937 crown - 2 cent piece - gold $200 koala (1980 type) - mob'o'roos dollar.

I don't really have a favourite. I just wish that they'd put decent australiana coins out in circulation instead of being a special edition thing all the time that costs mega bucks. For example the designs on the 06-08 discover australia gold proof fauna set should be made our circulated coins so as to kill a few birds with one stone, they advertise some of the things that make us unique like the wombat, devil etc, etc and they give us something to be proud of. I think the better question would have been "your least favourtite" as that's easier for me The bloody 20 cent platypus..very sad lookin pus compaired to the fauna set

As a non-Australian actively collecting Australian coins, my vote goes for the large and lovely 50c and the Platypus 20c.

I really like the two florin examples. We will have a thread on your top 12 20th century coins starting on January 2, and run for 12 days under the main coin forum. We would really like to see some great examples from down under in that thread.

my vote goes for the large and lovely 50c and the Platypus 20c. Yes with the fifty but disagree about the 20 sorry. Sorry about the bad pics, I wish I had the real thing but I had to take these from my book. I don't think this pic below gives our pus the attention it deserves..I think it looks like a dead duck just under the water I think this one bellow is far superior in design and would depict the australian fauna much better And I think we should have some of these too I think a coin that you can actually make out what the animal/place/thing is is better than one that your scratching your head wondering what it is..we have some of the most beautiful and amazing creatues and places in the world here but I don't think we promote them enough to the rest of the world and as for what's happening to our devil..my heart bleeds..I really hope they can do something to save them before we only have them in a cage I live in an area were we get the odd pus and it's getting harder to find them too..beatiful animal but just watch the spurs
