I have a question I could use your guys knowledge to help me figure out the best way to do this. My grandpa has a collection of graded Morgans and he wants me to trade them foe him for silver dollars is there somewhere that you guys know of that would exchange silver dollars for Morgans? I told him I would look into it for him I need to find a place where I could swap them for as close to even money as possible? Thanks for your help!

Most any dealer could make a trade, but keep in mind Morgans only have ¾ ounce of silver.

Who are they graded by?

I am guessing he is talking about Silver Eagles and its to bad you don't have enough posts on this board to do a trade with the members because I know most collectors would trade Silver Eagles any day for Morgans and not think twice about it. I am willing to bet that just about every member on this board has some silver eagles but not everyone has a MS-64 Morgan in their collection. All that being said it really depends on the grading company and the date/mm on how many silver eagles would be a good trade for each Morgan, But any dealer would be happy to do a trade but I would do my homework to get a price the Morgans are worth and how much each Silver Eagle is worth at the time and how many you should expect to get for each Morgan at the time of the swap to make sure you don't do your grandfather a huge injustice by trading one for one or anything. Again grading company and date/mm come into play here. For example if there is a 1878-s or 1879-S MS-62 Morgan in there then One Silver Eagle may be about all a dealer would give. But a 1878 and 1879 with no mint mark in the same grade may net you with two or three (especially since silver has taken a hit lately), and those numbers of ASE's go up with each grade

Keep in mind, the value of what you'd be getting is directly tied to the value of silver. The value of what you're giving includes collector interest as well as silver content, and will likely appreciate more in time than Silver Eagles will.

Keep in mind, although MikeBrax hasn't even hinted at wanting to move these coins here at Coin Community - so he's not the intended reader of this post - he is ineligible to conduct commerce at Coin Community as a new member, and any attempt by a member to propose business with him will not be taken....kindly.
