Does most people search just key dates for varities and errors or does every coin get looked at?

Look at everyone of them, both sides. You never know what you might find.

if you are searching for a speific variety I would sort the dates. but if you are searching to find any all and possible new varieties (or errors(diebreaks Cuds trails doubling) than I would look closely at each one

Depends....on how I am feeling actually....right now I have alot of cents so I am I have a short list of all errors/varieties (besides very minor ones). Quite a few dates I immediately skip over and put back into rolls.
After I get through all these I will probably do a quick scan of every coin and search further all the coins on my short list....

I check every last one. Might as well, it does not take that long.

Absolutely check every single one! That's the fun part. I find it relaxing and when I do find something interesting or a really old coin I get ridiculously happy.

I sort out all the copper and about nine "key dates"(for varieties I really want). I check the "key dates" first then the rest of the zincs.I take these back to the bank and save the copper for "slow times".

I personally think it's a waste of time to go through boxes of coins with a specific list in mind of what to look for. I search every coin, both sides, no matter the date. I have discovered nearly a hundred new doubled dies and repunched mintmarks that way.
