Under the light they all seem to have that cartwheel luster. Do they look like the surfaces are original?

I am far from an expert on this and I am not sure, but I suspect they may have been whizzed. The details look a little soft and there's what looks like a little buildup around the devices. I have a hard time telling whizzed coins though.

I was suspecting something, but I too am far from expert. Can whizzing a coin still leave the cartwheel luster on it?

These look like the coating that guy from ebay was putting on his cents. It was pretty obvious that he coated his cents, as he had hundreds that were exactly the same color, which is the same as these.

Might just be the lighting for the picture too.

I don't see any grime/dirt/etc in the fine crevices. Take a picture of these next to a red unc late 60's or 70's Lincoln...from about 12" away.

Maybe it's the lighting but it doesn't look like there is any luster to the coins.

They also look photoshopped to me......playing with the color balance and contrast to wash out imperfections

Ok...
My opinion (which should not be highly rated) is that they all are great looking regardless of what was done to make them look better and I would love to have them in my collection.

to be critical:

1935S: Nicks and wear on the obverse, the "O" on the reverse looks worn I'd go EF-40 at a minimum and would be happy to have it.

1936P: EF-12 due to stalk wear and I still would be happy to have it.

1937D: Somewhere around Au-50 and I would love to have it.

Whizzed or not, the stalks and jacket collar are telling.

I'd much rather have these than F-12 or less not cleaned or whizzed. I think they are more than acceptable.

You have to look at it this way... These are 70+ years old and someone might have made them look better by getting some dirt and oxidation off of them. Would you pay more if they were dull and dirty? You can't hide wear.

Those coins do look too good to be true (but are still really, really nice). Um..so...what's "whizzing"? I have this image of dunking cents in a jar of Cheez Whiz.

I promise you, these coins will not look this good in hand. There was a posting a few months back where a guy bought some cents that had the exact same look to them. When he got them in the mail they looked nothing close to as good as the images. Another member then took the images the member posted and photoshopped them to look exactly like the auction images. I would bet this is the same seller.

Unholy, I know what you are talking about. I remember that thread and how misleading the coins and pictures were. But these pictures are from in hand. They arrived and I took these pictures with my phone. They represent the actual coins really well.

The surfaces do not appear to be original. I bought a few re-colored wheaties once as a test and the "coating" came right off with an acetone soak and a q-tip. The coins underneath were XF/AU pieces with normal surfaces for lightly circulated bronze cents.

The images in the OP are very similar to what I purchased.

So do you think If I throw them in acetone it will let me know if they are original or not?
