Please list the first Dansco album you purchased, when it was purchased, the type of album, and your reasons for making the purchase. Also, please let us know how many albums you have currently. I purchased my first Dansco album in early 2011. It is the American Silver Eagle album. I was just starting to get back into coin collecting after about a twenty year absence. I got interested again due to the fluctuating silver market and I wanted to obtain some silver for the long term. ASE's looked like a nice choice and even though I initially was trying to keep it as more of a bullion situation, the collector in me took hold so I decided it would be more fun to try to collect all of the dates instead of just stacking the 2011's that were readily available. I now have a total of six Dansco albums and I am slowly buying more of them and moving my old collections out of their Whitman folders.

I purchased my first Dansco in the mid 1980's. It was a Lincoln 8100 with proofs. I started coin colecting in the 1960's, at that point I was hoping to start making my collection have a better presentation.
I have coins for all the Lincoln holes, except the 1922 no D.
Right now I only have 29 Dansco albums, my daughters took some home with them on their last visit.
I am trying to get all the 20th century coins before I get to heavy in the 19th.
Someday I hope to be where Moe is ....on the 19th

I bought my first, and only, Dansco about three months ago. It was the Mercury dime album and I had planned to compare Whitman albums to the Danscos, but unfortunately the coin shop only had Dansco. Overall I am happy with the purchase and I'm hoping to get one for my Roosevelt dimes soon.

I bought my first (and, so far, only) Dansco album last year. It is a 7070 (U.S. Type Set) album and I bought it in order to give my previously random collecting habits a bit of a focus. Before purchasing the album, I just bought whatever coins caught my eye. I eventually started to try and organize them by type and date, but didn't really have a good way to do so. Then, I heard about the 7070. Now, my collection is organized, I'm much happier, my teeth are whiter, my love life has improved and I've lost weight as well...

Dansco Japan type set
And then Fiji. Both are tough coin albums to start off with... Bought them because I thought they are bargains which still is.

I inherited my Dad's collection in 2006. It was in some PVC Harco albums, untouched for about 20 years. I started to move it to new albums, starting with the Lincoln cents. My dealer carried Dansco's, so without knowing a lot, I bought a Dansco 8100 and started moving coins. Now that I've had them awhile, I'm glad he had Dansco's, as I love them. I'm now up to 78 Dansco albums, each with a slipcover. (Currency album, 9 7000's for 2x2's for my British collection, 3 for Canadian type set, 8 for 3 from each country collection, 2 for IHC,2 for LWC, 2 for LMC, 2 for LSC, etc. On all moderns, I do a primary for with proofs and a second without proofs. It adds up and is addictive, but it's better than drugs or drinking. And I hate golf.

My first was an ASE Dansco, bought it about 1998. I had been collecting ASE's since they started but didn't invest in an album until then. I thought they deserved a nice looking album.

My first was a Mercury 7123 about two months ago because that is what the dealer had and my Merc collection was almost complete (with the exception of 16-d,21 and 21-d for now.) Then I quickly found a Lincoln as I'm only missing a 09-s vdb. I have about 10 Danscos, all 7100 series for now. Still have some old Whitmans until I get everything ordered to make the change.

My first Dansco was for Australian Florins. I used to keep my coins in them Horrible plastic coin pages. I now have 5 filled pre decimal albums and 5 part filled ones (every time I upgrade I put the old coin in another album) I also have 7 decimal albums for Aussie coins Nearly complete. I also have 4 Whitman albums for US coins 3 for the Kennedy and one for dimes. The Whitman albums seem to hold the coins better than the dansco's. A lot of my dansco's have bits of paper in them to hold the coin securly

I only have one, A 7113 for Jefferson nickels, bought it around this time last year I think. Wanted to build a set through roll searching. It's probably around 60% complete so far, but I've been slacking off the last couple of weeks.

Not sure which was the first one. I get all my Albums free from dealers and since most seam to get Whitman Albums, I have well over 100 or them. Not sure but I think I've got about 8 Dansco's and a few others. As an example at the last coin show I received 74 Folders and 12 Albums all free and all Whitman. Gave all the Folders away.

Next time you have too many don't forget us blokes down here I have just started on my US coin collection and the only albums I have are the 3 kennedy and the dime one. All of the other US coins are stacked away in 2x2s and plastic flips.

Then I looked at the possible postage to send someone them. Not sure if that's really worth the expense and possible problems. I did recently send some to a member in Egypt but that was easy since a someone from here was going there so just gave them to them. That is something I should look into though. People from where I'm at going to places where someone needs or wants them. I always wonder if others would just ask dealers at coin shows about what they do with Folders and Albums they get when they buy collections. Most I know throw them away.

Maybe next time.
