Looks like this 1921-D Walker was buffed and polished. I'm sure there's a reason it's raw. For that price level and that date, I'd want that slabbed. Such a shame on that scarce date, assuming it's real. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1921-D-Walk...em4ab39f3c95

Even I know enough not to buy that one! Looks way too good to be ungraded given the year. Too bad ....someone is going to be spending some change on that one.

And it looks like a lot of other things he sells are cleaned also. One of the 55 DDOs says it is cleaned at least. It hurst to look down the list of items he has for sale.

Doesn't look polished to me, just looks like good luster. Agree it should be in a slab though.

If this isn't polished, then my coin here certainly isn't polished. I still haven't been able to decide why this coin looks so nice. Any ideas on this too? :) https://goccf.com/t/109902&whichpage=1

Should a 1921-D have gown lines that sharp? Aren't they supposed to be pretty subtle prior to 1923?

Looks good to me, priced as an AU, wiffo's right, 21d gown lines are weak. If I was close to a TPG, I'd be running it in for an opinion.

I agree it is a scary auction because that coin is absolutely stellar. As much as I dislike TPG's, that is an example of a coin which MUST be slabbed. If it's original, and I think it is, it is worth the price

Maybe it's just the photos, but that coin looks more like a chrome bumper than a silver half. As for the Bicentennial half, I have seen proof-likes that have that appearance.

People need to start looking through ebay with a neutral attitude instead of negative all the time. Not everyone is trying to rip you off. That being said, I wouldn't buy it without being slabbed, but only because of the dollar amount. I don't think for a second its been cleaned or polished.

I've got an MS Walker, and it doesn't look like that. The luster is wrong and the color is strange. Granted, mine is a later, common date and not a 1921-D, but it still looks wrong for a silver coin generally. It might be the lighting, or the photo, but I believe the coin is polished but probably genuine. I was concerned that it was too well struck (e.g. around the hand), but apparently '21-D is not a bad date for strike.
I still don't know why you wouldn't get that thing slabbed. Even if it came back as "MS details, polished" it's worth it when trying to sell a big key like that, IMO.

It at least looks dipped to me. Those surfaces don't look original, and the reflection doesn't look like luster, though it could just be the lighting.

How does this guy have so many rare coins. He has 3 or 4 1955 DDOs. What are the odds of that?
