Started looking at the half pennies from my deceased estate find and I saw this 1 had a funny little mark that caught my eye so I googled mint marks and found the pl for London.
Then I thought it looks in pretty nice condition so I thought I'd ask my new friends here for opinions on grade/value etc. All help appreciated.
So what do you all think?

I have read a few theories as to what 'PL' may mean:
1). 'Pecunia Londinium', (money of London)
2). 'Port of London',
but I don't really know.

Anybody have any more clues than I?

Gradewise,
No significant wear, except a tiny amount on the high points of the design.
EF.

I found this in the 'Blue Sheet':

In 1951 The Royal Mint London produced 40 million sixpence for Australia distinguished from the 1951 Melbourne mint sixpence (Learn more about the 1951 Sixpence) by the mintmark PL, abbreviated from pecunia londīniī (money of London) or percussa londīniō (struck at London).

I can't comment on the accuracy or otherwise of it though.

gVF-aEF I think. Retail would probably be $2-3.

As to what PL stands for I have no idea. Sel seems to have some ok theories. I think it may be one of those things that will never be known for certain.

Am I right in saying that the PL marked coins seems to turn up in much higher grade?

One thing with the 1951 PL Halfpenny is that the definition is so crisp that you can spot it is a PL over the Y. (Perth) or normal (Melbourne) just by a simple glance. The PL has crisp hairlines & details all over it.
A pity about the slight rim damage & a few little marks, I'd also be saying gVF to aEF.

I think The Royal Mint were turning out some very high quality stuff. Better than the Aussie mints.

Thank you all for the help and info.
When I was researching mint marks yesterday I was reading an article about how during certain years, (i forget which, Information overload lol) in order to save money dies were often reused/repaired and sometimes faults were fixed by re punching out certain details by hand, especially date numbers making for inconsistencies in orientation and also spacings. I thought this must make it even harder to pick out fakes!
