unholyroller Pillar of the Community United States 1903 Posts	Posted 02/12/2012 3:35 pm Note the added amount of detail on the "open mouth" variety....makes me think this coin was struck with too much die pressure. I would wager a bet it also has a very thick rim. When the die struck with the added pressure it pressed deeper than normal into the planchet. Just a guess Report this Post to the Staff
