A proof 1930 Australian Penny - probably set me back well over 1 million but oh boy I would never let it go!

I really wouldn't care for a coin that is so highly valued that I would have to add an massive alarm system on my house. Also, hire a 24 hour body guard. Be watching over my shoulder every day.
No, I would just want super high grade coins for all my Albums. For example with enough money I'd try to get a complete Mercury dime Album all in MS-66+. Same with Lincoln cents, Indian cents, etc. One Album of each type of coin and all MS grades.

HR $20 by a long shot...probably the prettiest U.S. coin ever.

I chose "other" since I would rather finish what I have started first.

However, if the "other" option was not there, I would choose 'MCMVII Double Eagle Ultra HR PF-68'.

In this price range, sheer value takes a back seat to perceived need on the part of the buyer. Price doesn't matter when you can write checks this big. So what's interesting to you as a buyer? Sheer beauty? Hard to argue a high-relief St Gaudens. Rarity? Quite a few on the list qualify.

For me, though, it's about history. If I can have what I want, it's going to be what I believe the most important coin on that list, the one which makes the biggest dent in America's numismatic history. And that's the 1792 Half Disme. The specific specimen mentioned in this poll makes a strong case for being the very first coin ever officially struck by the United States of America. That's about as important as it gets.

All would be interesting and valuable choices but I would probably stick to my sets and purchase:

1995 w ASE (the only one I'm missing)
1916 s walker
1921 walker
1921 d walker (all ms of course)
then I would finish the 10 classic commemorative halves I am missing.

After that I would just buy beautiful classic coins in gold and in silver proofs.

Now if a Panama Pacific $50 showed up I would take that too!

This statement illustrates why Dave is on completely different level than I am.

I voted 'other' because the 1793 Chain Cent would be my choice. I just missed the one sold at Heritage recently. I bid 1.1 million, but got distracted texting my friends and was outbid.

I would not buy any of those for just the reasons justcarl provides.
If money were no object, I'd start my own road show, roaming the country offering honest deals and fair value and beating the motel buyers at their own game. I love surprises and there is still a lot of undiscovered treasure out in the 'wild'.

I would take the 1972 Half Disme.

But if I could choose, Id pick the 1894-S Barber dime!

carl & muddler . . completing high grade sets

Prethen & jbuck . . MCMVII HR, one of the most artistic US coin designs

SuperDave & rachums . . 1792 Half Disme, a very important piece of numismatic history

cipster . .

mysilveryears . . an honorable quest for discovery

with all of the above. I chose the 1794 Dollar as the 1st coin in my complete MS-63 or better date/mm Silver Dollar set, 1794-1935. No fun starting with the 1804 & working down.

I would like to have a complete set of "off metal" war cents (1943 P,D,S & 1944 P,D,S).

I picked other. Mine would have to be the best 1892-O Morgan dollar known.
