just wondering what the most common "type" of collections everyone is working on, feel free to offer advice on how you store and display.

As many FEC as I can find! Some countries have beautiful circulating and commemorative sets, I'm glad I don't have to make a choice. Some countries (have to) keep changing their coinage due to poor economy and inflation. Limiting the number of coins per country is ... well, limiting.

i would find it very 'neat and tidy' if I could limit myself to 3 or 4 per (would fill out rows in an album nicely).
as it is now I cant seem to get rid of anything other than doubles of what I already have. putting them in albums is a constant pain to shift them all to make room (especially when I sort through a couple of pounds at a time). I've tried leaving blank spaces between the countries but they seem to fill up too quickly.
I've tried putting them in row boxes but I really dont like them like that for some reason. I like to see everything at a glance.
how do you guys store larger / growing collections?

A simple question with (for me) a complex answer. I would define my collection as an attempt for "at least one from every country", in the sense that that is the primary goal I am seeking when I visit a coin dealership, coin show, or surf ebay etc. Beyond, that, I am interested in all sorts of other things around the coinage: different denominations, different calendars, different elements and alloys used. There are also a couple of thematic aims (astronomy/space, ancient Roman emperors and mintmarks, coats of arms) and beyond that, it really is "everything shiny". I don't keep duplicates, but any and every non-duplicate I manage to acquire gets kept. Quote: how do you guys store larger / growing collections? There have been plenty of threads on storage solutions lately; just do a forum search for threads with "storage" in the title and browse through. For myself, I put the coins in 2x2s or 2x2-sized flips, then put them into album pages. TO cove the expansion-reshuffle problem when new coins are acquired, I leave lots of spaces between the coins. Typically, I aim for two empty spaces between countries, more if it's a country I tend to acquire lots of coins from. For larger countries that take up multiple pages, I try to leave plenty of gaps in the middle as expansion room. And, if I fill up all the spaces, I simply insert another sheet there.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

I keep all dates I don't yet have, but as I am mostly buying world poundage right now I only decide what I keep, not what I get. When I get to buying individual coins, I'm sure I'll try to complete some series, but mostly I plan to work on OFECFEC, one from each country from each century.

I am with Sap on this one. I have several ideas for my collection, and OFEC/OFEP is one of them. For difficult places like for instance St.Kitts&Nevis, Dominica and Antigua I will generally only aim to acquire one coin. However, for the majority of places in my collection I have more than one - and I keep looking for more.
As for storage I use coin frames but into albums. The countries I have lots of coins from get their own albums. The rest find their place in continent albums. Europe has the most, as I focus mainly on my own continent. For Asia I have one album for India (independent, colonial and states) and two albums for the rest (A-I and J-Z). For America I have one album for Brazil and two for the rest. As these are very full now Canada might get its own album soon. You get the idea.

I collect as many from each country as I can get. My aim is to collect at least one of every denomination, from every mint, from every year. I also don't keep duplicates though, one of each is enough. They must preferably be circulated too, I'm not interested in NCLT. Steve

I try and make sets from countries, so I'll find a logical start date and then aim to get one of every coin (excluding mint marks, dates and sometimes even metal content if it is basically the same coin). Germany is logical, others just get to a point where the coins are too expensive or difficult to find.
And I would vote the last one but I have never, ever been able to vote on this forum. Where's my first amendment rights huh?

My "sort of" goal is one from every country / ruler combination. So back in Roman times that not only means every emperor, but every emperor and city state combination for provincials - which I have more interest in. Same for everywhere else. Though within that massive goal are mini projects - such as every known example of a bronze Provincial coin of Diadumenian - including die variations - the commeratives of the czech Republic (this one on hold) - and my Frankfurt thaler project.
and anything else that takes my fancy ......

For storage coins I started doing same thing as Sap, I started alphabetically and got to the end of A. :-) As for collecting I collect pretty much everything. Only thing I dont do is that I dont leave duplicates in collection.
My collection on Numista page: 7500 different coins and counting... https://en.numista.com/echanges/pro...hp?id=129798

Since I just recently got into foreign coins (buy them by the pound), I have been saving all of them. They all go in 2x2s (labeled and cataloged). Then they go in 2x4x9 (2 rows wide) storage boxes. The boxes are organized by CONTINENT... then within the continent they are organized alphabetically by the country. Tried to organize them by years, but I am adding too many to do that right now.
Once I have gotten my fill of all this fun, then I will focus on at least getting one coin from my missing countries. Also, will then think about getting rid of the "year" duplicates.
WHEW........wears me out just thinking about all the work that I have done and will do. But it is so much fun!
