Poll Question
In most years since 2001, the RCM has issued at least one Special Edition commemorative silver dollar in addition to the standard annual dollar released in January.

Do you think we'll see one or more additional commemorative silver dollar(s) in 2012?

If you vote "Yes", please reply to the poll and let us know what theme(s) you think will be commemorated.

I voted YES for one more release in 2012.

I'm guessing the RCM is going to "squeeze" one more Diamond Jubilee coin into their existing line of silver and gold coins honoring the Queen.

You probably are right but I voted no. There doesn't seem to be anything else major to commemorate on a 25, 50, 60, 75 or 100 year timeline.

As much as I love Canadian coins, it seems to me the RCM makes a new commemorative every time someone famous sneezes (being nice here - not trying to be mean). It makes good business sense for them also as it helps them rake in a profit.

Oops, I see now you were talking about silver dollars - should have read more carefully before voting.

I have this opinion b/c of pieces like the triangular 50 cent with the cow on it, commemorating the olden days of the Milkman. This commemorative was - well - interesting.

Who woulda' thunk it?

BTW - I own one
