I am guessing from the certification number that this was one fo the same coins that was part of the 8 sold last year? Hope the sale goes well!

Good afternoon!
Ok...look...
Has anyone found one of these in circulation? ICCS (2011) shows all 77 are all MS, and 0 in circulated condition.
Hmmm...Ill be looking forward to the new ICCS pop report.
There appears to be a resonable explanation for this, if anyone is brave enough to state it.

There was speculation about the explanation for this error in earlier posts. BTW, I see the 2012 ICCS report listed on ebay but I asked the fellows at ICCS a couple of weeks back about it and they said it wasn't ready.... Does anyone have a 2012 ICCS population report yet? Anyone know the new population on this coin?

Sorry, new to the conversation on this subject. coinsandcanada.com lists the 2006P non-magnetic for $100 @ MS 60 up to $850 @ MS66 which seems only slightly higher than the prices for the 2006 Magnetic? Are they way off base on this or something?

Those prices were likely set some months ago. Until a few months ago, almost none of these coins had traded at auction, on ebay or in any public manner. So those prices were really only a conjecture. A few months back a single seller put 8 coins up for sale. Several were sold publicly. They ranged in price from about $1200 to higher levels. I suspect that of those 8, probably half or more are "locked away". After that seller sold, no new coins have emerged for sale.

The only ones we see for sale are from the original eight that the original seller(Pierre) once owned.

I wish there was some sort of guesstimate on how many of these were produced 233,000 of the P pennies were struck, so of those how many were non-magnetic 10% would be 23,300 1% would be 2,330 If it was either of these numbers I think we would see alot more on ebay, torex and other auctions I wish the RCM rep would chime in lol we need answers! Until then I'm sticking with my thought that this was a backdoor job

I have a non magnetic 2006 penny here without a P. I realize that this can't be what you're talking about. Is there any chance that someone could post a pic. of both sides of this coin? The one on ebay is too snall to read. I look forward to watching this thread to find out what the desired coin looks like up close. Thanks if anyone answers.

It looks the same as any 2006P cent. The mint rep did speak on an earlier thread. He/she said that the mint was authorized to use either blank in 2006. As far as they are concerned it is not an "error" but an allowed coin that for whatever reason is very scarce. I bet either a back door job or maybe some planchets got mixed in the wrong bucket by mistake.

Thank you, Smallcentguy. Is there a way I can access the mint rep's posts? Does he have a username, perhaps? I really appreciate your help.

I'm not sure how a coin with a pop of at least 77, all in mintstate, could be worth $1600+. I have older coins with a pop of 5 that are worth less. If a few planchets fell in the bucket accidentally, no one would ever find them mixed in the millions made. Either there are more out there, or they are back door jobs. I hope for the investors sake, someone doesn't find a couple rolls of these.

Numismateer, that is why I have not rushed out and bought one yet. But, like the 1954 NSF PL cent, which you can find at any coin show, I think the hype will keep the price inflated, despite increased numbers or decreased demand.
