In honor of my 1000th post and inspired by the discussion in this thread, I would like to call to order the first meeting of the official (well, not officially official] CCF 1000 Ounce Silver Club, open to all members who have amassed at least 1000 ounces of the shiny stuff and anybody else who enjoys talking about it. Pictures are not required, but I'm sure we'd all enjoy drooling over them if you've got them.

I'll start the ball rolling with a picture of my current hoard, updated to include the monster box of Silver Maples that just arrived in the mail today:

The-Official-CCF-1000-Ounce-Silver-Club

The picture includes the following:
  • At the top right are my monster boxes of ASEs (green) and Silver Maples (yellow). Each one contains 500 coins.

  • At the top left is a display case featuring all five 5-ounce ATB bullion coins from 2010, and below that are the five collector's versions from 2011.

  • The two canvas bags each contain $100 face value (200 coins each) of half dollars. One has Barber half dollars and the other has Walking Liberty half dollars.

  • The stuff in the middle is a hodgepodge that includes multiple rolls of Morgan dollars, Peace dollars, 90% silver Kennedy and Franklin half dollars, Mercury dimes, silver Roosevelt dimes, silver quarters and 40% silver Kennedy half dollars, Eisenhower dollars and Bicentennial quarters. There's also some individual 1/2 ounce silver dragon rounds and bars and some loose Morgan, peace and 40% silver Eisenhower dollars that wouldn't fit into the rolls. Oh, and I almost forgot -- there's also a one kilo (32.15 ounce) Australian Silver Dragon coin.

  • At the bottom are five of the 25th Anniversary ASE sets. I debated whether to include these, since their value is currently well above bullion (and will hopefully remain so), but I figured why the heck not.

All told, I would estimate that I currently have slightly more than 1500 ounces in pure silver, which comes to around 94 pounds. The total weight is greater, of course, due to all the 90% and 40% silver coins.

And in other related news, I think I may have seriously hurt myself moving all this stuff around. Pardon me while I go look for an ice pack...

I am thoroughly impressed! And you're right, I enjoy drooling over your hoard :) I'm not sure if I'll ever have that much in my lifetime though :(

The "hoard" actually looks a lot smaller in person. I'm thinking one of these days I need to get some 10 kilo bars or something to make it look truly impressive...

Very impressive. Now, how long did it take to get there? You're right, Baarryg, it does look smaller than I would have thought to be so much silver. But only because it's so neat and tidy. Why don't you open 'em all up and pour them into one big pile?

Counting, absolutely everything silver in my coin hoard, I have about 950 ounces to go. :)

Sorry, but I have been using the bumpy road of silver to add funds to purchase numismatic items.

Defiantly need some rectangular items to balance the picture, maybe a 100 ounce Engelhard.

Outstanding, barryg! Simply outstanding! Nicely diversified silver, too. That's a stack to be proud of!

I would be real excited just to break into the 100 oz. club. The most silver I have ever had at one time, maybe 80 oz., lol....

Heh. Actually, the bottles hold my collection of DMPL Morgan dollars. Based on the advice of some other members, I keep each one in its own capsule. But then I found that I could fit 10 capsules in one medicine bottle...
