Anyone considering this?

And why would this set, with the additional packaging and fluff, be $1 cheaper than just the proof silver dollar by itself?

I've been waiting for this set since I first learned about it via a SSB coin mailer from the US Mint back around the time the rest of the coins were released. I'll definitely being ordering a set.

As far as the price goes, I don't know. Maybe the Mint has applied the same type of discount it uses for its other new commemorative coin releases? The silver coins are typically $5.00 cheaper for about the first 30 days after release.

I'll be buying, and I dont anticipate a quick sell out (does anyone else?), so I think I'll wait to order it on the 21st, so I can order it with the silver proof set and a roll of the "s" circulation quality quarters.

I believe the use of "set" refers to the fact the package contains "a reproduction of one of Francis Scott Key's original manuscripts of his poem 'The Star-Spangled Banner'" and "the lyrics to the 'Star-Spangled Banner'..." in addition to the coin.

The US Mint has used the word "set" to refer to many of its single-coin offerings over the years when the coin is housed in some sort of educational package.

I dont either just like with the defender of freedom set.

That said, had the mint actually marketed these sets I would have expected at least the freedom one to sell out fairly fast.

I didnt even know this one existed until this link.

I was seriously thinking about it. But, I wanted to get the ASE set and cant afford both right now. I don't know much about coins yet but seems like a nice coin for a collection to me.
