Hi, I just started collecting coins about 1 month ago. So far, I hasve racked up quite a lot of coins(around 700) and now I'd like to identify, price and grade them all. I just don't have a book to do so. I'm hopeing somone may have a spare 2011 or 2012 book on hand. I'd buy one myself but I am only 15 and don't have a job yet. I live in canada but hopefully, someone will understand.
Thanks!

Just be warned. Redbooks work like cars. A 2012 RedBook was released in 2011. And so on. You would prob want the 2013 edition.

to the forum. Until you can save up for a RedBook, a great online price guide is at numismedia.com.

I may have a old one but I wont give away my new one. I didn't get one last year (2012 version) but I believe I still have a 2011 somewhere unless I have already given it away to someone. If you just want a price guide then the Red Book is not what you are looking for. Numismedia, ebay and Heritage past sales are the best way to get pricing

Thank you everyone. Tazarmarko: I did not know there was a 2013 book! I didnt think they made them until the year came 'round! Brian: If you can find the old RedBook, I'd be more than happy to take it off yur hands. I am sure that the 2011 books are not THAT much different than the 2013 ones as except that prices may have increased a little. Thanks again for the info everyone!

2013 Red Book is out. $12 on Amazon. And kobo, the price data therein is subject to much speculation, interpretation, and argument. If you want a ballpark figure, probably a good start. But actually looking at the market (i.e., recent completed ebay auctions) will probably give you a better idea.

For the general information your looking for almost any Red Book would be OK. Just learn to ignor the prices since they are famous for being excessive. Yes the 2013 Edition has been out since somewhere in April of this year. Myself, I collect them all but basically use the 2010 Edition for prices. Normally the Red Book is about 3 years to far off in prices so I've always used one of about 3 years old. Since your not working and only 15 years old, you may want to save money by just using on line information. I know it's a bit more difficult to look up mintages, oddities, error types, variey types on line, but much cheaper for now. Possibly if a memeber here has an old one they could just send you free, might be the best for now. If your interested, the first Red Book came out in 1946 but since Whitman didn't know if there would ever be a next Edition, they put the following years date on that book. 1947. After that they continued putting the next years date on all Editions and just never changed that situation. And why so early in the year is just not clear. Every year it comes out in April. Sort of like how the auto industry comes out with the next years cars in the previous year.

SO, you have enough money to buy coins but you don't have $12 for a Red Book? Priorities, young man, priorities!
