I'd say B because A looks a lot like silver plating wearing down. But that's only my opinion

I'm going with B. A looks to be cast.

I am going to say..."B". For the detail in the mountains on the right reverse side.

Something to consider; 1921 Peace dollars were struck in High Relief, some look great (sharp details), others not so much (mushy details, especially later strikes).

Here is an archived thread;

Wow, that is really tough, because they are not at the same level of wear. So everyone above chose B, I think in large part because the coin is in better shape so the details are better.

Despite the details differences, which can throw you off, there are other differences in these coins. The W and E in WE are thinner in Coin A vs Coin B. The first T in "Trust" looks different between the two pieces, also- again thinner in Coin A vs Coin B. The authentic pieces that I have examined do not show thinness in the W and E in WE, which suggests to me that coin A, which has this thinness, is the fake. The counterfeiter ran out of room for everything and squeezed the WE and the T in TRUST by making those letters thinner.

So I go with Coin B as the real piece.

What is clear is that the fake, whichever one it is, is a phenomenal fake. These fakes are getting more and more authentic looking and it is going to potentially cause great harm to the coin collecting hobby-- this can be a thread all to itself. I think many people will buy key date coins without really knowing the diagnostics of those coins and then years letter when they sell, the piece is fake, forever tarnishing their view of coin collecting as a hobby.

When you reveal the answer can you point out the specific pick-up points the distinguish the fake from the real?

"B"...
The rim detail just looks 'wrong' on "A".
I don't like the surface of "A" either.

I have a feeling both are fake - but if I had to choose I'd say B is real. The lettering on the reverse of A is poorly defined - you usually dont see that kind of letter wear on a genuine coin. But I wouldnt be suprised if I am wrong.

Both?

Just a guess. My initial reaction was B.

B is real, A does not have "Peace" on the mountain the Eagle is standing on.

Freedom: "Peace" is there on the A coin. It is just faint and worn. Do you mean that you would expect to see it higher and in more detail if it was real?

A is genuine B is fake is my hunch.

I flipped my answer around since the eagle head feathers look funny, they are too defined on B as well as the snarl in the beak, the way it turns downward.

The 1921 was predominately a "High Relief" coin, I can barely see the "Peace" on the bottom of A. I am still sticking with
my original statement. "B" is the good coin. The details on "A" look rather mushy and not as distinct as they should be for 1921.

I say B as well, and assuming this doesn't end up as both are real or both are fake, what a fantastic, informative post. Thank you. I'll throw out the rims as potential differentiators in addition to those pointed out above.
