I buy mixed lots and things at auction from time to time when I think it is going too cheap. Sometimes I am right, sometimes I am wrong. But I am not a dealer and I don't have a store. If I am wrong I just take the loss and write it off to experience. As far as I am concerned, it is all just a learning experience that on the whole subsidizes my hobby.
I suspect this fellow is just someone trying to flip some coins based on his market knowledge. He probably wins on some and loses on others, but on the whole makes some money. I bet if he loses on this one he won't cancel the sale. He will just take what he gets and buy something else. Not every trade makes money. People that want to make money on every coin are the dealers you meet with lots of inventory........

Stating the obvious but often they have Family & Friends to make sure it sells at a profit,if it doesn't they have to wear ebay Fees & try again. The guy with the Laptop scam a few Years ago had multiple(over 12) ebay ID's via pre-paid Broadband, thats one of the reason why ebay wanted compulsory PayPal,it cuts down the the options for the Crims.

That's what makes ebay soo much fun. The last 7 seconds of blood lust in the bidding

Quote: Only the last second counts. The rest is just waiting for the last second. Thats why I will only ever bid in the last few seconds. I don't see any point in showing my hand early or giving those crazy bidders the chance to bid in $5 increments. If you just bid the maximum you are prepared to pay in the last few seconds then you dont give the seller any chance to use dishonest bidding practices

i reckon he would have lost after buyers premium ( auction } ebay & paypal fees. Just the buyers premium at auction ( 16/18 % ? ) would have put it close to the ebay price.

I assumed only $10-$15 bucks loss, it's worth a try. He should have hold it for a month or more then put it on ebay
