This is one heck of a set to complete and it took me a while to find the last coin, which is the 1910 20 chon. Despite the high mintage of 2 million, this does not necessarily reflect how often it appears on the market. All the other coins are perhaps 3-10 times easier to find despite similar or lower mintage number.

Here are the pictures:

Congratulations on your achievement. :) I never get tired of seeing the dragon and the pearl.

Have you found these 'minor silver' types to be widely counterfeited? Of course the expensive rare dates may be, but I am thinking of circulated common ones that could be found in junk boxes of yesteryear.

Like you I am interested in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean coins. Sadly in many areas it seems wise to just stay away. . .

Wheatiefan, the minor silver coins are generally ok unless they are rare dates and Chinese coins in general. The Japanese coins should be very affordable, some Chinese Province can be affordable depending on the provinces (Kwangtung being the easiest) but the Korean ones are usually dearer because of the lower mintage. But that doesn't mean that you can't find low grade coins under 20 dollars for Korean coins. Most of the coins on ebay are actually ok if you know what you are looking at. I'm happy to give you tips where need to be. My advice is to back off from Chinese coins completely unless you are willing to spend time and effort to know the seller.

This was a rather unusually difficult set - it's supposed to be easier than trying assemble half won coins, which is about half dollar size coins.

Great set. I have started my Korean Protectorate and Empire coinage. I too, am trying to make a type set.

Thank you!
