Hi All, Hoping someone can share if they have the same or similar errors in 2005 20c coins. Out of roll nearly all 20 coins has the same error on the reverse as this image, where the cheek looks like the metal has folded and cracked, and a raised dot. Anyone seen or have something similar? Great pic Rob,you can see she actually has an eye in that shot but no have'nt seen this before but I do have a heap of 2005 rolls,when I get around to opening them I hope they do have some of this error.  If they're a known error Nancy will have some for sure. Edited by appleangel07

Photo is a fluke heheh.
I put the loupe over the camera lens on a Samsung Galaxy SIII and then cropped out the bit in question with MS Paint (you'd never guess I worked in I.T)

Actually my Mrs just walked past & saw the pic & said the Queen is crying & as soon as she said that something clicked to me,I'm pretty sure I remember something about the crying Queen.

For me, this is a commonly seen error, and not just on 2005 coins. I usually think of it as 'ripped cheek'. I don't quite understand what happens to the obverse dies, but they obviously suffer damage, and this is the result. I don't normally keep them but sometimes will if the Cud (dot)is a lot bigger, which it occasionally is. There can also be small Cuds in the 'rip'. I'm not sure which denominations I've seen it on, but it's not restricted to just 20c. It will take me a while to track down some of the ones I did keep and if/when I do, I'll put up some images. life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

i have them on a $ 1.00 coin and we call them a tear drop ,
going by your pic I think they are the same ,, kel ,,

I have read abut this error before. I've never looked for it but might now.

Was really hoping for a super gem or choice coin, at least the error doesn't stand out too much so I have put aside the best ones and will sit on the others for a couple of years.. -rob |

Hi All, I've got some of this date where the claws dont join the 2. Could these just be a weak strike or a worn die or something?
