Andrew, if you are in Folk Polk you could go to Southern Coins located in Lake Charles. Its about a hour and half drive for you but it is worth it, great service and friendly staff. If you need more info please let me know, I have bought from them since I was a kid. Good luck.....

If you don't mind purchasing online, I would suggest goldmart for low prices. Also check a few local dealers and see how much over spot they charge. If you shop around you should find a reasonable price. The benefit with a coin shop is not having to pay shipping.

Welcome, Andrew! If you're interested in bullion, you've come to the right place. There are lots of very knowledgeable and savvy people here, all with different collecting or investment objectives. A quick personal comment. You'll notice that some of the forum users here use "handles" instead of real names. This isn't an accident since personal security and privacy are genuine concerns for bullion stackers. Unlike "Linked In" or other social media sites that require confirmed identities, no one here expects you to reveal anything about yourself in order to take you seriously. Well, enough on that subject. There are several options for buying based on where you live and your collecting objectives. Online bullion dealers, ebay, local coin shops, and even sales between other members of the Coin Community web site are possible options. I personally prefer to use one of the major online bullion dealers. APMEX and Provident Metals are both very reliable and would have fairly quick shipping to Louisiana.

ebay has always worked for me. I don't have to haggle with any crotchety old coin shop dealer or worry about being talked into overpaying. And ebay's buyer protection is pretty stellar. Do some research, set the price you want to pay for something, and wait for the deal to come to you. It usually does, given adequate time.

i really do appreciate everyone's help excuse my spelling mistakes as well they don't really teach us spelling and English in the infantry Ha. I feel very welcomed by you all this is a awesome atmosphere glad I came to the right place. the only thing that has scared me about shopping on ebay is not getting what your thinking you paid for. I have heard horror stories of people paying for an item and never receiving it or it being plated instead of the real deal or then the person they bought from completely disappears, I have looked up some of the places Apex Goldmart etc and they all seam pretty legiet. I have recently come back from afghanistan and while there I stumbled upon some coins to be believed Bactrian but a little sketcy on bein real becuase of the people there. afghanis are not very trust worthy people, thinkin about takin them to a coin shop and gettin them checked out

Quote: afghanis are not very trust worthy people If we're generalizing, people are not very trustworthy people. But ebay usually sides with the buyer in disputes. They ask that you to send the contested item back, if you're unsatisfied, and even offer to pay the shipping costs. I've also heard good reviews of Goldmart.

Id agree. I know many americans who are not very trustworthy.
But a lot of the problem you were facing may have come from a culture diference
