Just wondering. What does PO-1 mean? Personally I'd put the coin in an air tight and carry it that way. That's what I did with a couple of Morgans. One of which I somehow lost.
Rest in Peace

PO 01 means
Quote:
PO-1
This is for "Poor" (the grade) and "1" (the numerical designation that means Poor). A coin of this grade is basically uncollectible due to its terrible condition, but coins of great rarity (such as an 1802 Half Dime) are still of considerable value and in demand in this grade. In order to "reach" this grade a coin must be identifiable as to date and type and not be horribly damaged (such as holes).

I'd think a PO1 would undoubtedly bring more $$ than an UNC. A true 01 without damage would be coveted.
An airtight would defeat the purpose.

I have a Peace dollar the has been pocketed daily for 10 years. It has some rim bumps and contact marks and shows bright silver with the consistent wear, I would put it at F-15 for now.

Wow everyone, I didn't expect the vote to be so decisive. Why do you guys think it would take 5+ years?

Most coins last decades in circulation before they are worn so much. Being in you pocket may accelerate the process but I wouldnt have thought enough for it to be PO-1 after 5 years. I voted 5+ years but I would expect it to be 10++

I couldn't vote. Way, way to many variables. Type of pocket? Pocket material? How often running and/or walking?
How many and type of other coins in the pocket? What other items are in that pocket?

I'm with just carl, is there going to be anything else in there or just by its self? But I would have to go with +5 If I were doing something like this I would go with in pocket with nothing else, Let them low spots fill with dirt and shoot for that cameo proof look.

To give some other information, the coin is inhabiting a pocket with an Eisenhower dollar, 2 kennedeys, an ATB Quarter, and a nickel. I never take these coins out of my pocket, even when I exercise. I'm an avid bicyclist, and they even come with me then of course. So, My Kennedy half went from MS to VF in about 6 months, so I was a little surprised when you guys said 5+. I didn't realize that most of you didn't have multiple pocket pieces.(y'all really should)Hope that answers everyones questions.
