Collecting all world coin types issued during the war years (1939-45) makes for an interesting collection. And won't cost you an arm and a leg. You have a good start with what you have.
Forgot to mention that 1944 Belgium 2Fr is actually struck on a U.S. steel cent planchet and made at the U.S. Mint. Many WWII coins were struck at U.S. mints.

Thank you! I don't have one type of coin I like collecting, I pretty much collect all coins! I have coins from lots of different countries and different eras. I have never focused on one particular time/place, but I have considered it to make it more interesting...plus I don't buy uncirculated coins, so I don't spend a fortune on them, I just do it for fun!

Nice collection. Thanks for sharing these photos. What was the purpose of the hole in the second set of coin photos?

Interesting collection. My suggestion would be to put each one in a 2x2, place in one of those 20 pocket plastic sheets for them. Then that way you could add a page for information for each coin. And don't forget to try to get ones from China, Japan, etc. too.

Jlaw, if you want, I might be able to find you a Wartime Ha'penny from Blighty if you want to set up a trade. Message me if you are interested, your emailing isn't set up yet.

I really don't think people were using strings to tie coins up when it comes to 1900s. I'm certain it's more to do with material cost savings versus practically of the size of coins. For example if you can have a coin with a hole with a larger diameter versus a coin of the same weight but perhaps a bit too small to handle, which one would you pick?

Thanks, guys! I recently got a few more WW2 coins to go along with this collection, like another from Vichy France, one from Spain, the Philippines, and one from France as well :) Plus I got a small red token that was used during WW2 to ration items, not a coin but still pretty cool!
