I think I'll be buying a metal detector in the next few weeks. I was going to get a Garret Ace 250 because that seems to be a very popular choice with newbies.
I have a small rock and mineral collection and love fishing. Other than that I stick to coins.

I have a 30 year old classic Mercedes-Benz 450 SEL 6.9 (litre) The number plate is SEL 69L, hence my forum name.
However, my first (technical) love is numismatics. Started when I was in elementry school.
I am also a gem cutter. I have faceted about 70 stones. My favourite faceting material is yellow sapphire.

I had a dabble in the 1990's but very time consuming,i think you need a very patient personality. There is an dedicated Oz.Forum for metal detectors and there use,all the models on the Oz. market are rated by actual users. If I find it again I will post a link.

I used to collect Silver Age high grade comic books (Batman, Spiderman, Superma, etc ) , still would, if they were not so expensive these days. I would love to try metal detecting, sounds exciting to be honest, except wouldnt know where to start with this hobby

Dabble in electronics, but they're getting so small and integrated, it's difficult to do much today; I miss the big tubes!
