I swear I can see a fold in whatever made the mark. And you can see some devices under the mark. I think PMD would not show this. I could be wrong.

Is lamenation a problem with these nickles? Don't know anything about these coins. Just guessing.

It looks like a struck-through to me, or mayyybe a lamination. The details would not be preserved through damage that extensive.

Could be a combination of both, certain details are there, but the lower part toward neck and date looks to be lamination peel.

Lamination is my guess. Too bad none of it is retained. Laminations are very common on all nickels due to the metal mix.

Not a lamination. Struck through extra planchet material. Material folded before strike. Not retained. Nice coin.
