Should I post every coin I receive in change in the "coins found in change" thread whether they're collectible or not? I just don't see the point in posting "I found 4 dirty zincolns, a 2012 nickel, and a Wisconsin State Quarter." I find ordinary change all the time but I don't post here. Sometimes I don't even keep the change that I find, I just put it back on the machine. |

Getting change is easy, anyone can do it, just buy something with cash! Of course we only want to hear about the collectible finds there. No wants to know that I got a quarter, a dime, and thr ee cen ts at lunch today. Coinstar finds are never a guarantee. I have checked for years and found nothing. If I finally found one rotting Zincoln you will most definitely see me post about it.  |

Fair enough. I just don't understand why. I guess I'll be unsubscribing from this topic and not posting my finds here (which includes a pretty spectacular one a few weeks ago).

Found a cent in the coinstar reject tray at the grocery store last night. Not sure why it was rejected as it didn't looked pretty good for being a 1974 date. I put it in the donation container.

There was a handful of coins in the Coinstar at Vons today. $3.00 in US coins included 1 1964-D silver dime and 2 bronze cents. There was also a 1985 Australia dollar, 2002 Australia 10-cent, 2009 Great Britain 10-pence, and a 1991 Belgium 1F (franc?) coin. FYI, the two 10-cent/pence pieces are almost exactly the same size as a US quarter. |

A 1911-D Barber dime in pretty nice condition, today. First silver since my last post several months ago. (Also a '79 Anthony dollar & some additional spending money beyond that.) Unfortunately it was stuck to a piece of cellophane tape, so I'm soaking it in alcohol in the hope of getting the stickum off. |

GREAT haul, Jaobler! You never know with those handfuls... last year around this time, I found a similar handful at a CVS and it included 3 silver dimes. And publius, that's awesome! We had a Flying Eagle cent posted here the other week. So cool to hear of people finding truly obsolete coins. It gives me hope that it might be my turn someday since there are eight coinstars that I visit frequently. CRH Nickeloholic. 1,600,000 nickels searched in eight years! Have found FOUR complete Jefferson sets!

SO I wend too dump off some half dollars and I reach in the reject slot. I pull out a Chuck-e-Cheeses token reach in again and feel something that might be a smashed dime very thin piece of metal and I lose it in the slot. I think to my self and think its nothing. I feel for it again and pull out a coin what appears maybe an old Mexican coin when I pulled it out. I take a closer look and WHOA!!! 1862 Half Dime! This time is in awesome condition. Its just dirty. Great detail, you can see the corn on the reverse. Take a look.    |

Wow! That is awesome! Great find,that must have come out of somebody's collection! Half Dimes haven't been a thing for well over a century! Good job on the Barber dime Publius, denver mint coins are pretty great. I'm glad both coins found good homes. This thread has gotten really good lately.  Edited by Illegaltender
