I am trying to recollect what I collected back before I had to sell my collection when in college to pay bills. I found an old pic and there is 6 Dansco albums in there and I really didn't remember starting 6 different sets. I know one of them is a US Type, a Franklin half (gorgeous complete set before I had to sell it all MS62 or higher), a Roosevelt dime and a Statehood Quarter but for the life of me I can't think of what other two sets I had started. I think I am getting old.

My eyes aren't that good, however, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, and Terry Brooks are all excellent choices in that particular genre.

Oh, and the penny in a glass bottle. That's a nice conversation piece!

Man I am getting old I really don't remember starting a Kennedy set haha I now remember starting a regular Washington set, it was only about half way full, I think the Roosevelt set was 3/4 of the way done. I wonder where my type set is. I also don't remember starting an Eagle set but I do love Eagles and am thinking of starting a set again (I am just starting a Commemorative dollar set, going to pick up my second coin for it tomorrow the Community Service dollar heard it was an awesome buy at $30 from a pawnshop in MS not proof).

My suggestion is to just try to forget those. Throw away that photo. Sort of like that old car we all had way back when. Or that girl I should have married. Or that oil well I should have invested in. Way to many coulda, shoulda, woulda's in life. Get yourself some new Albums and live for today, not yesterday.

Pffftttt. I gave up reading Jordan as there was no end in site after nine books.
I would say just collect what you like now regardless of what you might have done then.

Carl its fun to look back I don't regret selling the sets that much now because it did get me a college degree and my current job which I love and that pays 4xs anything I was making back then. I do miss some of the coins like I had a gorgeous T1 Standing Liberty quarter in my type set that was an MS63 and just one of the most beautiful coins ever. I also was doing the gold page back then too. Now I find that I am a much more refined collector nowdays then I was back then. I was collecting the Washington quarters and the Roosevelt dimes because they were easy sets for the most part to do and most pieces could be had for cheap. Now I find I enjoy one really nice rarer coin then 5-6 common coins even if they are MS grade for stuff like the Roosevelts. I am sure that is why I also started the Kennedy set, easy sets to complete for the most part. Its why I did the Franklin set (even though I did enjoy doing that set because that is a nice coin and I did MS62 or higher on every coin). I'd rather spend $100 on a nice MS grade Standing Liberty for my type set or get a gorgeous Oregon trail commemorative for that set I want to do then getting say 4-5 Franklins or a dozen or more MS grade Roosevelts. Its still fun to look back and see how I collected back then and hence most of those sets not being memorable to me now or that I even started them. What I remember from my sets back then were the gorgeous type coins like my SLQ or my dollar gold or 2 1/2 dollar Indian or a gorgeous AU 1849 large cent I had not a group of coins I really don't care for and was doing them because they were easy to do. And Smoker the final book in the Jordan series comes out in January book 14 and the 3rd since he has been dead and done off his notes. I just started rereading the series to read it all the way through and am currently on book 3.

I finally remember why I was doing a Kennedy set because I was buying mint sets to cut the quarters and dimes out of them so I figured I might as well do a Kennedy set as well.

When I started breaking apart proof sets to fill the proof holes in my Kennedy half dollar and Washington quarter albums, I added "proof pages" to my other albums.

These threads are always fun! And this one could spark a thread in and of itself (if it doesn't already exist): "Post a Picture of Your Bookcase(s)" so we can pick out cool books, artifacts, CDs, DVDs, photos, etc. that identify you and enjoy/appreciate them with you and the rest of the community here. I know there is an existing thread where people have been posting pictures of their desks so I guess this is kind of similar.
I don't think anyone mentioned the Weiss & Hickman Dragonlance books there, sirdizzy. Love the core books written by Weiss & Hickman but the other Dragonlance titles are hit or miss depending on the author. And I think I got stuck after the 6th or 7th Jordan book myself. Long-winded and about 500 different plot lines, iirc. And props for the Calvin & Hobbes and Harry Potter books. But...where's your Tolkien, man?!
Do you still have all the books (besides the coin albums)?
Thanks for sharing!!

I knew he was ailing a while back, but did not know he had passed. I might finish up book nine and try to finish the rest. I really do want to see where everything ends up.
Celtic, also the Drizzt series are pretty good, though I have not read all of them.
dizzy, so what sets exactly are you working on aside from a type set?

I still have all the books, well except the coin albums those got sold. Currently I am doing my 7070 type set, I have started a modern commemorative dollar set (no album yet but the coin shop had ordered me a Dansco, I only have 6 of the coins right now), I just started a Sacagawea set just because I really liked the 2012 reverse and it made me want to do a set but have only bought 9 of the 28 coins (just doing a P&D), I have a complete P&D Statehood Quarter set my mom and grandma put together for me a couple birthdays ago (I'd like to get it back in a dansco or whitman album its just in a harris folder right now), I am also doing the Presidential dollars (I have a whitman album for that one and it is complete up to the first 2 presidents for this year its just a P&D set) and I started a coins of the 20th century whitman folder for my son (it has basically become my downgrade set whenever I upgrade a coin in my 7070 the downgrade goes into that set for my son). Other than that when I get further into my 7070 and commemorative dollar set I want to do put together a set of modern commemorative halves but I am just going to buy the extra page you can stick in the 7070 so you don't have to do an entire album for it. After that I think I might do a classic commemorative half set and I think I might like doing an Ike dollar set. I might redo my Franklin set as that was a gorgeous set. I also saw someone do a dollar date set that I thought was cool as heck going from Morgans, to Peaces, to Ikes, to SBA and ending with Sacagaweas. But I am trying to stay focused the reason I never finished any of those sets was because I kept starting new sets, I would really like to get a complete type set for once and I want to finish my commemorative dollar set. So I am trying to just stay on those two sets and not start anything new which is hard.

Oh man, I dunno about the albums, but I want the rest of your bookcase (except those silly American Harry Potters, I'll keep my imported UK ones, sorry). Someday I want that two-volume "Complete" Calvin and Hobbes set . . . it's like $120 and to me, worth dropping the money on, if I had $120 to drop.
