Nice collection you have started there!
You seem to be doing it right, I personally have alway favoured the binders with clear plastic pages for sets like that. I do a little research to see which vrieties exist (if any ocmmemoratives were issued for any years) and basically earmark one space per year and for each commemorative. I leave a couple of gaps at the beggining and a couple at the end and if something comes up I wasnt expecting maybe I have to bump a few coins along.
With binders like this for multiple countries and denominations I am not too bothered if none of my sets are fully completed, what I generally end up with is just one or two gaps in each but a broad overview of the coinage.

I was thinking along the same lines .. about leaving some gaps .. and maybe keeping some separation between different kings .. or queen.
Theses albums just arrived Friday, so I am sure there will be some changes.
So far I like how the Canada coins look. It is nice that the coins are right side up on both front and back of the page. U.S. coins one side will be upside down.
When the pages become available I think I will add a couple pages to the cent album, for the Canada large cents.

Nice set. It appears you have a space for the 1936 dot. I wish you great luck in ever acquiring one of those for your collection. I like the idea of using the blank Dansco pages for the set.

Nice looking start. Mine are in old Whitman albums I bought in the late 70s. They made them back then for Canadian coins of all denominations. They may still make them.

The blue Whitman albums for Canada are relatively easy to find on the secondary market. For several years now I have been doing essentially the same thing you are, except focusing on silver issues. These show up all the time in the 'junk silver' sources I visit regularly. Often the coins are high grade, anything but 'junk'. Photos show progress on the dime album, all pulled from the melt tubs. There are a few other non-USA albums made by both Dansco and Whitman, notably for Australia and Great Britain, but they are typically more expensive and harder to find. Dansco also offers millimeter-sized pages for blank albums, which will accommodate almost any round coin made in the past several centuries.

Mysilver years, that is a nice looking collection. I am not a fan of Whitman albums, I like the quality of Dansco better.
But if they do have some for collections I that I can not find in Dansco albums that I be interested. I would really like one for a Canada type set.
I also keep a eye out for Canada silver coins, but I don't think I have enough of any to start a collection. Junk silver buckets can be a good source for good coins.
I see my American collection having a good focus on Quarters and may extend that interest to Canadian quarters. So maybe I will watch for some of those Whitman albums ... but then again I may just use the blank Dansco quarter album

I'm doing the same as you GR58 but only doing a date set of nickels and cents. I have a us nickel album but havn't picked up a cent album yet. They are in a old whitman Lincoln Cent book at this time. I have quite a few extra from the 40's-60's if you like i'll see if I have any nickels you still need.

Quote: ...so I ordered the blank cent and nickel albums. ( I bet others have done this same thing) Yes. Yes I have. Quote: At first I was thinking just one for each year. Then I see there are a lot of different varieties. My Canadian sets (which need a lot of work) are date only. I would like to work on them, but probably will not until my other US albums are done. By the way, what you have so far looks fantastic.

Quote: By the way, what you have so far looks fantastic. Thanks Jbuck. I am leaning more towards a date set.. unless I come across some easy to get varieties. Like today I found a 1951 commemorative nickel. Sets like this I want to be fun and just add some interesting coins to my collection. Quote: I have quite a few extra from the 40's-60's if you like i'll see if I have any nickels you still need. Bluezone, thank you very much for the offer, I will keep you in mind if I get stuck. I have access to a large amount of coins that I have just begun to search through. So I hope to get most of them here local. I am pretty sure I will have to purchase some of the keys. Quote: I love the look of those book,s I'm not really into 2X2s in 20 page holders for coins like this, I like them in a book! I like the book(album) look better also. Soon I will be looking for the blank pages I can add to these books, so I can add the silver five cent silver coins and the large cents.

True coins in a premade type Album do look more professional. And due to the separation distances, they take up a lot less room than thoes plastic pages for 2x2's. Contrary to that is the ability to add information on each coin on a 2x2. No way to do that in an Album. True most on this forum think Dansco Albums are better. Most just like the appearance of them yet most never display them due to the possibility of theft. Some coins look better in a brown Album. Some look better in a Blue Album. For only one type of coin an Album is usually much better due to not using excessive room. With foreign coins of numerous varieties in sizes, very possibly only the use of 2x2's would work. So many things to consider.
