A friend of mine recently suffered the death of her last surviving parent ... father in this case.

Amongst the turmoil of disposing of the estate in time of grief ... she came across what she described to me as a few 'crates' of coins ... all jumbled together.

She wishes to dispose of them ... without getting burned.

I offered to help (of course) ... and hence the purpose of my post tonight is that I might on occasion seek the wisdom of the CCF to support my evaluation of the coins.

I have no dog in the hunt other than offering my friend some honest valuations on what she should expect to receive from an honest coin dealer.

My initial look into the pile she brought by tonight shows some potential ...

Lots of wheaties in bags ... US Seated and Barber coinage ... a few Flying Eagle cents ... many foreign coins ... some medals ... and in general an unorganized pile of stuff for me to sort through.

Stay tuned for some updates ... appreciate any support the CCF family can offer to help me help my friend.

Best

David

Terrible to witness another death. God Bless the family. Hopefully she will be able to acquire some valued inheritance from this hodgepodge of coins.
Let us know what you find dude.

First, pull the high dollar and high grade stuff.

Second - any bullion value coins (common date, circulated coinage)

Third - the other stuff pile.

Sorry to hear of your friends loss. It is so hard to lose a parent. I am sure she is lucky to have a good friend like you to help out in this bad time.

I think there will be many members here, who will help you out in any questions you may have.

I do help out in local coin shops four days a week. A big part of what I do is buying collections just as you are describing. I would be glad to help in any questions you may have.

Sorry to hear about that David. Death is never pleasant and unfortunately something everyone will have to go through.

If shes having trouble selling any of it I'm sure there would be ton of interest here to make it as quick and painless as possible

My condolences to your friend.

If she is comfortable with you selling them on her behalf, sell some of them here.

Best guess, how many individual coins are there in this horde?

Please send her thoughts and condolences.
I appear ( through the many requests for advice ) to be the world silver ( bullion ) expert, in my coin club. I can offer my help in that respect.
